Mob attacks doctor after woman dies after childbirth in Rajasthan

Post delivery woman’s death caused violence in a private hospital in Dholpur district in Rajasthan, video of the chaos has gone viral. In the viral video, relatives of the demised woman were seen assaulting the doctor. On Friday, after delivering a baby boy, the woman was discharged, but by evening when her health worsened, she was brought back to Bharat Hospital on Ghantaghar Road in Dholpur. But she was referred to Agra, and later she was taken to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where she was pronounced dead.

After the death of the patient, angry relatives reached the Bharat Hospital in Dholpur and started assaulting Dr. Anit Jaiswal. A source confirmed that Dr. Jaiswal wasn’t directly involved in the case, yet was assaulted.

Hospital owner files FIR after doctors and staff beaten up

FIR has been filed in the matter, Dholpur CO City, Krishnaraj Jangid said, “Babita (27), wife of Dharmendra Jatav, a resident of Indoli Basai Nawab Saipau, had a delivery at Bharat Hospital on January 20. After the delivery, she was discharged from the hospital. After reaching home, the woman’s health deteriorated in the evening, after which her family brought her back to Bharat Hospital. Babita was referred to Agra from Bharat Hospital. She was treated in Agra for 5 days, but there was no improvement in Babita’s condition. After this, her family took the woman to Jaipur on Wednesday, where doctors at SMS Hospital declared her dead. After this, the enraged family members reached Bharat Hospital on Friday and assaulted gynaecologist Dr. Jaiswal and the staff present there. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kotwali police station team reached the spot.”

CCTV footage helps police identify suspects

CO Krishnaraj Jangid noted that an FIR has been registered by the hospital’s owner Dr. Karan Kushwah. CO also confirmed that some people involved in the case have been taken in custody and further investigation is being done.

Dr Jaiswal in the complaint mentioned that some 20-25 people started assaulting doctors and staff at the hospital. Jaiswal was present at the hospital for an emergency surgery, when the family members and relatives of the deceased women entered the hospital and started assaulting him and other staff.  Dr Jaiswal received injuries on his head and hand and his iPhone has also been stolen.

Police reviewed the CCTV footage, and detained four people under Sections 170 and 126 of the BNS and further investigation is underway.
