A Class 12 student in Gwalior has reported that she was raped by a man she met through Snapchat. According to police reports, the victim became acquainted with Krishna Khatwani approximately one year ago while interacting on the social media platform. The two established a communication link that developed into regular messaging and conversations.

The incident occurred on the evening of September 22, when Khatwani called the student to meet him. The girl deceived her family by saying she was going for coaching classes and left her home around 5:15 pm. Instead of attending the classes, she met the accused at a hotel, where the alleged assault took place.

Upon arrival at the hotel, it is reported that Khatwani attempted to force himself upon her. When the student resisted, he reportedly threatened to harm her father and also to share objectionable photographs and videos of her. Subsequently, he allegedly raped her during this confrontation, leaving the victim in a state of fear and distress.

Victim’s Family Initially Hesitant to Approach Authorities

After the traumatic event, the student returned home and disclosed what transpired to her family. Initially, her family hesitated to approach the police, primarily due to worries over potential social stigma associated with the case. This delay in reporting the crime was concerning, but ultimately, the family decided to take action.

On September 24, the family formally lodged a written complaint with the police. The authorities recorded the details and took the matter seriously, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Khatwani. The police have charged him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as other relevant sections pertaining to rape and intimidation.

Furthermore, law enforcement is taking steps to gather evidence regarding the incident. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel where the alleged crime took place and are undertaking searches in various locations to locate and apprehend the accused individual.

Authorities in Gwalior are actively pursuing the case following the filing of the FIR. The police have indicated that the investigation will aim to collect comprehensive evidence to ensure that justice is served. The examination of hotel surveillance footage is expected to provide crucial insights into the timeline of events leading up to the alleged assault.
