Madhya Pradesh Government Grants Toll Exemption for Combine Harvesters

The CSR Journal Magazine

On April 1, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared that combine harvesters utilized for agricultural activities will be exempt from toll charges at various toll plazas managed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC). The announcement was made during a meeting of the MPRDC Board of Directors, convened at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers, as stated in an official release.

Focus on Farmers’ Welfare

Mohan Yadav emphasized the state administration’s dedication to advancing farmers’ interests. He remarked that as part of the ongoing “Farmer Welfare Year 2026,” multiple initiatives are being initiated to promote a prosperous farming community, encapsulated in the vision of ‘Samriddh Kisan-Samriddh Pradesh.’ The exemption of toll fees for combine harvesters is anticipated to decrease the transportation costs associated with these essential agricultural machines, potentially leading to lower prices for agricultural products and ultimately benefiting the farmers.

During the same board meeting, the Chief Minister announced the approval for the construction of the Indore-Ujjain Greenfield Road, along with the Ujjain-Jaora Greenfield Road, categorizing these projects as non-access-controlled. The Board also sanctioned the revised alignment for the West Bhopal Bypass and granted initial approval for its construction. These infrastructure improvements are part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity and accessibility for agricultural and rural development.

Comprehensive Coordination for Farmer Welfare

The Chief Minister reiterated that Madhya Pradesh is dedicated to celebrating the year 2026 as the “Year for Farmers’ Welfare.” In this context, multiple decisions aimed at bolstering the agricultural sector are being implemented. A total of 16 state government departments are collaborating closely to address various aspects of agriculture, including production dynamics, cost management, marketing strategies, income generation, and overall well-being of farmers.

The recent announcements and ongoing projects signify a concerted effort by the Madhya Pradesh government to enhance the agricultural economy and provide substantial support to farmers in the region. The initiatives are positioned to decrease operational costs and uplift the financial prospects of farmers, reflecting a proactive approach to agricultural development within the state.
