AAP Launches School Theek Karo Campaign in Uttar Pradesh

The CSR Journal Magazine

On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified its criticism of the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath by unveiling the “School Theek Karo Abhiyaan” or “Fix Schools Campaign.” This initiative aims to highlight what the party terms the “dilapidated” condition of government schools across the state. AAP’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh asserted that the campaign would document the actual state of schools and challenge the government’s claims of transformation.

The campaign is set to initially focus on collecting footage from various districts, documenting the poor infrastructure observed in schools. The AAP has already released videos from several locations, including Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, and Gorakhpur, alleging significant shortcomings in the facilities provided in these educational institutions.

Sanjay Singh remarked on the recent activism from students across the nation, who have taken to the streets to voice concerns about the dismal state of school facilities. He underscored the growing importance of schools and education as pivotal issues in contemporary political discourse in India.

Community Involvement Encouraged Through Helpline

As part of the initiative, the AAP has encouraged the public to participate actively in highlighting the conditions of government schools. Citizens are invited to record videos illustrating the present state of these institutions and share them via a dedicated helpline. The number 8382928009 has been promoted across social media as the point of contact for submitting these recordings.

Upon receiving videos, party members will reach out to contributors to utilise this material in amplifying the issue regarding school conditions within the state. The AAP’s call for community engagement aims to draw attention to the shortcomings in education and mobilise public sentiment towards demanding improvements.

Questioning the Adityanath government’s assertions about educational advancements, Sanjay Singh expressed disbelief over the reluctance to publicise the alleged improvements within the school’s infrastructure. He accused the ruling party of fabricating claims regarding the transformation of schools and postulated that if genuine progress had occurred, transparency would not be an issue.

Focus on Varanasi and Political Accountability

Additionally, the AAP directed its focus towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, claiming that the condition of government schools there reflects poorly on the current administration. The party asserted that after more than a decade under Modi’s leadership, the educational system in the country has deteriorated significantly, labelling it as a “massive prank” on the future of the nation.

In a statement on social media, the AAP explicitly invited citizens to document and report the appalling conditions of schools in their vicinity. The party posited that the campaign would serve as a catalyst for uncovering deficiencies in the education system and foster public pressure for the necessary improvements to take place.

The “School Theek Karo Abhiyaan” is expected to yield a substantial number of submissions in the coming days as the AAP aims to transform the discourse surrounding school infrastructure and educational quality into a central political issue in Uttar Pradesh. The party’s strategy appears focused on harnessing grassroots participation to advocate for urgent reforms within the education sector.
