‘Kalki 2’ Begins Production in Hyderabad: Amitabh Bachchan Reveals BTS Moments with Kamal Haasan

Renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is known for his tradition of greeting fans every Sunday outside his Juhu residence, Jalsa, did not adhere to this custom last weekend. Due to professional commitments, he was in Hyderabad to commence shooting for the much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.

Revelation of Work Commitment

On February 24, Bachchan addressed his absence on his personal blog. He shared images of fans who gathered outside his home despite notifications about his unavailability.

The actor noted, “I informed them that this Sunday I shall not be able to come, since I was shooting in Hyderabad…but they still came…even this cute little fellow (dog),” alongside photos depicting a crowd of admirers waiting for him.

Behind-the-Scenes Insights Shared

Later, in a post aimed at his fans, Bachchan confirmed that filming for the sequel to Kalki had indeed begun. He posted behind-the-scenes photographs, which included his transformation into the character Ashwatthama as well as a candid shot with co-star Kamal Haasan.

Expressing his enthusiasm about working with Haasan again, Bachchan conveyed his apologies for missing the fan meet, stating, “but apologies… work first…rest later.” He expressed appreciation for the affection shown by fans during his absence and indicated hopes of reuniting with them the following Sunday.

Casting Updates for Kalki 2

The sequel, which is directed by Nag Ashwin, has begun production several months after reports circulated regarding Deepika Padukone’s departure from the project. There has yet to be an official announcement regarding a replacement for her character, SUM-80 (Sumathi). However, it has been reported that actress Sai Pallavi is in advanced discussions to take over the role.
