Indian Vessel Nanda Devi Delivers 46,500 MT LPG at Vadinar Port Following Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz

The Indian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier Nanda Devi made its arrival on Tuesday at Vadinar port in Jamnagar, Gujarat, carrying a significant load of 46,500 metric tonnes of LPG. The vessel is set to conduct a ship-to-ship transfer at anchorage, where the transfer of LPG will take place from the mother vessel, MT Nanda Devi, to the daughter vessel, MT BW Birch. Operations for this transfer are scheduled to start today.

Notable Transit Achievements

This marks the second instance of an LPG carrier successfully arriving in India after navigating through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. On the preceding evening, LPG Shivalik, another Indian-owned carrier, docked at Mudra Port with 46,000 metric tonnes of LPG. The distribution plan for this shipment includes unloading 20,000 metric tonnes in Mundra, while the remaining 26,000 metric tonnes is set for Mangalore.

In a related development, the Indian-flagged vessel Jag Laadki, which departed from the UAE, is safely navigating towards India carrying approximately 81,000 metric tonnes of Murban crude oil. Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Shipping Ministry, confirmed during an interministerial briefing that all Indian seafarers operating in the Persian Gulf are safe, with no incidents reported in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 22 Indian-flagged vessels in the Persian Gulf, collectively accommodating a total of 611 seafarers.
