Gurugram: Man Caught on Camera Urinating from Moving Mahindra Thar in Viral Video

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a shocking display of recklessness and indecency, a video from Gurugram has gone viral showing a man urinating from a moving Mahindra Thar while clinging to its side step. The incident occurred late Wednesday night near the busy Sadar Bazaar area and was filmed by a person in a car following the SUV.

The video, which quickly spread across social media, shows the passenger standing on the vehicle’s footboard with the door open and relieving himself as the Thar speeds down Old Railway Road toward Shiv Murti Chowk.

Public Outrage and Police Action

The disturbing clip triggered widespread outrage online, with users condemning the “fearlessness” and “lawlessness” displayed in the act. Taking swift action, Gurugram Police registered a case for indecency and negligent driving under Sections 281 (negligent driving) and 296 (obscene acts) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities also began tracking the SUV’s registration details after confirming the number plate was registered in Haryana’s Jhajjar district.

“This is not just an act of indecency but also a complete disregard for public safety,” said a shopkeeper in the area. “The authorities should take strict action to send a clear message that such behaviour won’t be tolerated.”

Accused Identified and Arrested

Following an investigation, police identified the driver as Mohit (23) and the passenger as Anuj (25), both residents of Jhajjar. The Thar, which belongs to Mohit, was seized, and both men were arrested on Friday. According to Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, Mohit was previously booked in multiple criminal cases, including one of murder in Rajasthan’s Jhajjar and two cases of brawling, along with one under the Arms Act in Haryana’s Rohtak. He had been released on bail in December 2022.

“We are verifying the details of the video and trying to establish the registration number of the SUV,” said a police spokesperson. “A case has been registered at the New Colony police station under Section 281 (negligent driving) and Section 296 (obscene acts) of the BNS. The involvement of alcohol is also being investigated,” the spokesperson added.

Ongoing Investigation

Police suspect that alcohol consumption may have played a role in the incident. “The accused have been taken into custody, and we are questioning them to determine the circumstances of the act,” said a police official. The authorities added that several other passengers were believed to be in the car at the time. “We are trying to identify the owner and co-passengers of the SUV,” the official said.

The incident, now being referred to as an “act of sheer lawlessness,” has renewed public calls for stricter action against reckless driving and indecent behavior in public places.
