Firozabad Drum Murder: Woman Killed by Husband & Brothers, Severed Head Dumped in Drum

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a shocking case from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, a 45-year-old woman, Lata Devi, was allegedly murdered by her husband Ashutosh Singh, with the alleged help of his three brothers, over a prolonged property dispute. Police said the accused attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon and then dismembered her body, attempting to conceal the crime inside their home.

Gruesome Discovery at Home

The authorities recovered the severed head of the woman from a drum, while her torso was found lying on a cot. Neighbors described the scene as horrifying and expressed disbelief at the brutality. The couple had been married for 25–26 years, and tensions had reportedly escalated due to property disagreements.

Family Speaks Out

Lata Devi’s brother, Sanjeev Dixit, alleged that all four brothers were involved in planning and executing the murder. He stated that Ashutosh, who earned money, would give it to his brothers, who allegedly persuaded him to commit the crime. Another relative said, “They strangled her, cut her body in two, and hid the parts at home.”

Another relative, Upendra Pratap, said, “We came to know that the woman’s throat was slit. Ashutosh and his three brothers were present at the time. One of them held her hands and they cut her neck and put it in a drum-like container. The torso was lying on the cot. The marriage was 26 years old. Ashutosh used to earn and give money to his brothers, who live in the city.”

Police Investigation Underway

Circle Officer Animesh Singh confirmed that Ashutosh Singh has been arrested along with his three brothers. A forensic team collected evidence at the crime scene. Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections and are investigating the exact motive and sequence of events leading to the murder.

Circle Officer Animesh Singh of Sirsaganj said, “Police received information that Ashutosh killed his wife by slitting her throat. We have arrested Ashutosh. The matter is related to a family dispute.”

Background Complications

The family’s situation reportedly worsened after their 20-year-old son was jailed in Delhi for theft. Authorities noted that domestic disputes escalating to such extreme violence are alarming. The incident draws a grim parallel to the Meerut “Blue Drum Murder” case, highlighting the dangers of family conflicts turning deadly.

The Firozabad community has been left shaken, raising urgent concerns about domestic safety and women’s protection in households with ongoing disputes.
