In a bizarre incident, a resident of Kolkata’s Santoshpur has filed a police complaint alleging that his ‘Drunk wife’ rampages the home all night and even beats him up. The husband’s complaint is that his wife is physically and mentally abusing him and he is a victim of domestic violence.  The man has also alleged that his wife practices ‘black magic’ at home!

Police complaints by wives about physical abuse and domestic violence against drunken husband is not unusual. Such complaints are registered time and again at various police stations across the city. The police also take action in this matter. But this bizarre complaint has left the police officers also shocked!

However, the police have given due importance to the complaint of the ‘tortured’ husband and registered a case at the Survey Park police station against the wife and her mother. Based on that, the police have started an investigation. The injured husband was taken to the hospital by the police officers for treatment.

What exactly happened?

The incident took place in Santoshpur of Survey Park police station area. The complainant is a resident of the area, who lives with his mother, wife and sister. He got married a few years ago. The couple also have a three-year-old child. But his wife’s excessive drinking has created problems in the family, alleged the man. Whenever she drinks, she creates tension in the house. She also abuses him mentally and physically, when drunk.

The man alleged that recently his wife has developed a habit of drinking alcohol since morning. The family members tried to stop her. But she does not listen to anyone. After 11 pm on Wednesday, the situation grew tense when his wife started abusing him. When he protested, the wife also beat him up. After this, she started vandalising the house. In an alcoholic state, she threw all the glassware and many other household items from the second floor and broke them. Seeing the mother in this condition, the child started crying in panic and was inconsolable. The man alleged that the ‘drunken’ wife’s rampage continued till around 3 am on Thursday.

The distraught husband waited till the wee hours of the morning. In the morning, he came to the Survey Park police station and sought police help. The police said that the accused wife will be interrogated as part of the investigation.
