Did Wankhede Leak SRK’s Emotional Chats? Here’s What He Said

The CSR Journal Magazine

The former Mumbai Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation case against Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., alleging their news show The Bads of Bollywood is presenting him in bad light. The hearing of the case is scheduled later this month. In his suit, he has also addressed the leaked WhatsApp chats with Shah Rukh Khan, that went viral recently.

What did Wankhede have to say?

During a conversation, Wankhede shared that he has filed a petition before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court and in the writ, he has presented some evidence as well. “So why will I ‘leak’ it? I will bring it to the Hon’ble Court. What is my motive in leaking those things,” he noted.

The leak happened in May 2023, right after Aryan Khan’s arrest. It is alleged that the chats were reportedly part of the documents Wankhede submitted in a Rs 25 crore extortion case filed against him. He further noted that there was no need for the leak as the matter is in court and the documents will be presented before it. “The matter is before the Hon’ble High Court. Along with that, I’ve been given a 65B certificate. So why leak and do all those things? It is my job, which I presented to the court.”

What is in the chat?

In the chat, Shah Rukh Khan wrote many emotional messages. One message read, “You are a good man. Please be kind to my son. My son will break as a human being. I can only plead and beg you as a father. Please. You promised you will reform my child.”

Another chat read, “I beg you man, please don’t let him be in that jail. He will break as a human being. His spirit will be destroyed because of some vested people.”

What is the plea?

In the defamation plea, Wankhede has asked for permanent injunction and damages against the makers of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Bads of Bollywood. The High Court has asked Red Chillies Entertainment and others to reply within 7 days. And then Wankhede will submit a rejoinder. The matter is scheduled for hearing on October 30.
