Delhi Police Bust South-East Gang, Arrest Leader Saurav Lefty

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Police Crime Branch successfully apprehended a prominent gang operating in South-East Delhi on February 1, 2025. The police arrested Saurav, also known as Lefty, who is considered the kingpin of this criminal organisation, along with his close associate, Abhishek, referred to as Bhola. This operation concluded a six-month search for Saurav, who was wanted for multiple serious offences.

A reward of Rs 1 lakh had been announced for information leading to Saurav Lefty’s arrest. The Delhi Police indicated that he has a long history of criminal activity and is identified as a “Bad Character” (BC) at the Kalindi Kunj Police Station, with previous convictions related to attempt to murder, robbery, and other significant crimes.

Background of Gang Rivalry

The arrests are placed in the context of an ongoing violent dispute between the Saurav Lefty gang and the Ranjan gang. Authorities noted that tensions escalated following a shooting incident at the home of one of Lefty’s associates. In retaliation, the rivalry intensified, culminating in an attack in November 2025 that resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.

This escalating violence underscores the chronic issue of gang conflicts in the region, which have prompted law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in combating organised crime. Police officials believe that dismantling such gangs is essential for restoring order and security in South-East Delhi.

According to reports, the conflict has involved several other gang members and has led to increasing fear among local residents. The police are working diligently to address these concerns and diminish the threat posed by such criminal organisations.

Details of the Operation

The operation to apprehend Saurav Lefty was executed based on specific intelligence gathered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. A multi-state initiative was launched, leading to Lefty’s capture in Dehradun, effectively concluding a sustained manhunt. Following his arrest, police conducted a search in the Sangam Vihar area of Delhi, leading to the apprehension of his associate, Abhishek Bhola.

During investigations, authorities discovered that Saurav Lefty, who only completed education until Class 8, had transitioned into a life of crime, eventually rising to prominence within the gang. Most recently, he had been evading law enforcement while working as a taxi driver in Dehradun.

In contrast, Abhishek Bhola, who resides in Madanpur Khadar, had previously been a vegetable vendor before engaging in criminal activities. He is also reportedly implicated in a prior attempt-to-murder case, which adds to the severity of his current legal troubles.

Both individuals have been brought before the court, where legal proceedings will continue as police delve further into ongoing investigations. The authorities remain committed to addressing the complexities surrounding gang operations and enhancing community safety.
