A horrifying case from Delhi has made Headlines. This comes after a 9-year-old girl was found dead inside a suitcase in a locked flat in Nehru Vihar, North East Delhi. The discovery of the girl was made by her father on Saturday night. Meanwhile the authorities suspect sexual assault following initial medical examinations after the body was sent for post mortem.

Child Missing After Visiting Relative

According to reports, the girl had left her home to visit relatives nearby. She did not return for over two hours. The concerned family members began searching for her at the nearby locations. Soon they learned that she was last seen heading towards a nearby flat about 200 meters from their house.

Father Finds Daughter in Locked Apartment

Upon arriving at the unknown flat, the girl’s father found the door of the second-floor apartment locked from the outside. Despite assurances from the building owner that the girl was not inside the house. However, suspicions grew larger as the owner fled when he was asked to allow a search. The father then broke the lock barging into the apartment. And what followed was a heartbreaking scene. The father discovered his daughter’s lifeless body, naked and stuffed inside a suitcase.

He told the reporters, “When I reached that flat, I broke the lock. Inside, I saw the girl in a suitcase. She was unconscious. I took her to the nursing home right there in the street.”

“My daughter left home to give ice and never returned”

According to Ians, the father further stated, “My daughter left home to give ice to my relatives who live nearby. When she did not come home after a while, we called the relatives and found that she had never reached there.”

He further said, “When I began searching for her, someone told me that she had gone to a flat nearby, and someone had called her inside. The owner of the building said that the flat was locked and his brother had the keys. He said that the girl had already left. However, he said that we can check even if we want to. When we proceeded, the owner ran away”.

Medical Reports Suggest Sexual Assault

The girl was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Doctors observed visible injuries on her face, indicating possible sexual assault.

A senior police official stated, “Today, i.e., 07.06.25, (Saturday) at approximately 8:41 p.m., a call regarding the sexual assault of a minor girl in Nehru Vihar was received at PS Dayalpur. Upon reaching the location at Gali No. 2, Nehru Vihar, the Dayalpur police team found that a minor girl in an unconscious state had been taken to JPC Hospital by her father, where she was declared brought dead,” the police statement read.

“Prima facie, the attending doctors at the hospital observed visible injuries on her face and alleged sexual assault,” it read.

Police Launch Investigation

A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Dayalpur police station. Manhunt has been launched by the police to catch the owner of the apartment where the girl’s body was discovered for further investigations.
