Delhi Crime Branch Shoots 3 Asad Gang Members in Usmanpur Encounter

The CSR Journal Magazine

On Friday, February 13, a police team from the Crime Branch confronted members of the infamous Asad Gang from Meerut in the Usmanpur region of Delhi. The encounter resulted in injuries to three gang members, who were shot in the leg after they fired upon the police officers.

The confrontation began when the Crime Branch officers, acting on intelligence regarding the gang leader’s presence in the area, attempted to apprehend the suspects. The gang, upon being challenged to surrender, retaliated with gunfire, prompting the police to respond with shots of their own, injuring the suspects.

Among the police personnel involved, one sub-inspector narrowly avoided injury, thanks to a bulletproof vest. The arrested members, including the identified gang leader Asad, have a history of multiple criminal cases and charges pending against them. Following the encounter, all three individuals were transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Prior Encounters and Ongoing Operations

This incident follows another police encounter in the Ghazipur area that took place the previous day, where a different group of alleged criminals was engaged. In that operation, two individuals were arrested after one sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Police officials stated that further details regarding the charges against these suspects are still pending. The police continue to monitor and respond to criminal activities in the capital.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, two suspects linked to the Aya Nagar shooting were apprehended during a brief encounter in Dwarka. Both individuals sustained leg injuries during the exchange of fire. The police managed to recover sophisticated firearms and live ammunition from the location of the incident. Fortunately, the police team involved in this operation also avoided serious harm, with one bullet striking a bulletproof vest.

History of Police Engagements with Criminals

This series of encounters adds to a record of ongoing confrontations between law enforcement and criminals in the city. In a separate incident last October, Delhi Police had an exchange of fire in Mehrauli with a wanted criminal known as Koku Pahadia, resulting in the suspect being injured. During this engagement, two police officers were hit on their protective gear, and one constable suffered an injury to his arm.

As Delhi continues to deal with criminal elements, law enforcement agencies are actively coordinating operations aimed at reducing crime rates and ensuring public safety. The police express commitment to tackling organized crime, employing strategic measures including intelligence gathering and targeted operations against known criminals in various neighborhoods across the city.
