On August 8, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi hosted an Appointment Letter Distribution Ceremony at the Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, Civic Centre. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta served as the Chief Guest, while Mayor Pravesh Wahi attended as the Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, CM Gupta presented appointment letters to 187 new recruits, including 17 individuals designated as Special Educators.

Additionally, the Chief Minister unveiled a Medical Screening Portal aimed at facilitating health monitoring and medical exams for children enrolled in schools operated by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance civic services across the city.

CM Gupta addressed the newly appointed staff, underscoring the importance of their roles in fulfilling civic responsibilities. She highlighted that strengthening human resources within the Municipal Corporation is essential for meeting the everyday needs of Delhi’s residents.

Significance of Appointments for Civic Responsibility

In her remarks, CM Gupta stated that accelerating long-standing appointments is a vital step towards enhancing the effectiveness of the Municipal Corporation. She emphasised that quality civic services cannot be guaranteed without a well-equipped and trained workforce. Through the incorporation of advanced technology, strengthened infrastructure, and appropriate financial backing, the Corporation aims to serve citizens more efficiently.

The Chief Minister also mentioned plans for the development of new facilities, including additional blocks and advanced medical resources within MCD hospitals. Strengthening healthcare would be a key focus, considering the increasing demands of the community.

During her address, Gupta stressed that the opportunity of public service must be approached with integrity. She encouraged the new employees to prioritise public welfare in their responsibilities, asserting that commitment and sensitivity would mark their success in their roles.

Mayor Highlights Women’s Empowerment and Compassionate Appointments

Mayor Pravesh Wahi congratulated both the new appointees and their families, describing the day as one that signifies hope and stability for 187 households. He highlighted the fact that this event transcends mere employment, representing dignity and a new beginning for the recipients.

Wahi noted that among the new appointments, 31 positions were filled by women, marking a significant accomplishment in promoting women’s empowerment. Furthermore, he shared that processes are underway for an additional 268 positions, with 168 requisitions sent to the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board, aiming to bolster the Municipal Corporation’s human resources.

Additionally, he announced that 92 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) appointments are being made on compassionate grounds, signifying the Corporation’s commitment to supporting families during challenging times.

Continued Commitment to Healthcare and Employee Welfare

Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar commended the newly appointed individuals while confirming that MCD hospitals are undergoing continuous upgrades. He stated that modern medical tools and techniques are being introduced, bolstering healthcare services to meet community needs.

According to Khirwar, the launch of the Medical Screening Portal is an important step towards ensuring systematic health monitoring for students, further reinforcing the significance of adequate human resources and robust infrastructure. This dual focus aims to enhance both service delivery and healthcare outcomes.

Additional Commissioner of Health, Pankaj Naresh Aggarwal, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating everyone involved in the ceremony. He urged newly appointed candidates to remain dedicated to their duties, ensuring meaningful contributions to public service. This collaborative effort aims to enhance civic services in Delhi effectively.
