Sakharam Mahadev Humbe, a farmer from Mali Pargaon in Beed, Maharashtra, had long relied on familiar methods. Without formal education, even reading WhatsApp messages was a challenge. But he was sure of one thing-something had to change.

With the help of his son, Sakharam began following the guidance shared by Reliance Foundation and KVK Ambejogai. Together, they took a bold step by adopting the High-Density Planting System (HDPS) for cotton across their land.

From adjusting plant spacing to using the right nutrients and growth regulators, he followed every recommendation with care.

The outcome exceeded expectations-his harvest improved significantly, and his expenses dropped noticeably.

He also diversified his crops, planting sugarcane, sorghum, Bengal gram, and groundnut, and is looking forward to even better returns.

Today, Sakharam encourages other farmers to stay open to new methods. “Even if I can’t read, I’ve learned the power of knowledge and support,” he says. “When we learn together, we grow together.”
