In a recent statement, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is engaging in divisive tactics akin to strategies employed during British colonial rule. He expressed concerns that the BJP seeks to fracture societal unity along religious lines, thereby undermining collaborative opposition against its governance.

Tiwari highlighted the historical context of the British Empire’s divide-and-rule policy, asserting that the BJP mirrors these tactics by fostering divisions between different religious communities. He suggested that such strategies are intended to weaken resistance to the party’s agenda and assert control over the political narrative.

Comparing modern political dynamics with historical events, Tiwari claimed that the British had aimed to weaken the freedom movement in India by exploiting communal differences. He sees a continuation of this approach in the BJP’s current tactics, fearing that they threaten to destabilise the nation’s integrity.

Tiwari mentioned that an opposition movement is taking shape to counter what he termed the “plundering of the nation.” He noted that citizens are increasingly coming together to challenge the policies implemented by the BJP-led government, indicating a rising sentiment against perceived injustices in governance.

He underscored the importance of unity among citizens of various faiths, striving to create a collective front against what he sees as detrimental government policies. Tiwari indicated that this grassroots movement represents a critical response to the ongoing political climate in India.

Invoking the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Tiwari praised the leader’s ability to unite diverse communities during India’s independence struggle. He insisted that the Congress party is committed to following this path, aspiring to foster collaboration among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians to advance national interests.

Congress’s Response to BJP’s Policies

Tiwari articulated that the Congress Party strives to uphold the principles of unity and inclusiveness, contrasting this approach with what he describes as the BJP’s divisive policies. He emphasised the need for all faith communities to come together for the sake of development in India.

In a continued effort to engage the public, Tiwari asserted that the Congress is resolute in opposing the BJP while advocating for more effective governance. He accused the ruling party of hindering socio-economic progress through policies that he believes favour specific groups at the expense of broader communal harmony.
