Cheetahs will be Relocated to Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Santuary from Kuno

Cheetah

As the centre is in talks with Kenya, South Africa and Botswana to relocate the new batch of cheetahs to Madhya Pradesh, the cheetah project steering committee is learnt to be planning of relocation of some of the cheetahs from Kuno National Park to Gandhi Sagar Wildlife sanctuary. The steering committee, however, advises that this relocation to Gandhi Sagar should be carried out with care, taking into account stress factors like heat. Even the relocation within the same state, Gandhi Sagar is about 300 km from Kuno and requires a well-equipped, planned technique to shift the exotic wildlife.

Why Gandhi Sagar

The decision was taken at a meeting last week as concerns linger over the availability of adequate prey and the presence of leopards, as competing co-predators, inside the National Park. Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary is an important link for the long-term conservation of cheetahs. The aim is to establish a population of 60 to 70 cheetahs across the Kuno-Gandhi Sagar landscape, which will spread eventually across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

For many years now, the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has been preparing for Gandhi Sagar relocation of cheetahs. In the first phase, the plan is to release 4 to 5 cheetahs into the fenced area and the western part of the sanctuary. A 64 km² area has been cordoned off for leopards so that there is no conflict between the two wild cats.

Big Relief for Commuters: Annual Pass and Per-Kilometre Charges in New Toll Policy 2025

Toll Plaza

India’s national highways are set for a major transformation with the government’s New Toll Policy Draft 2025, promising significant relief for commuters. The draft, which is expected to be implemented soon, introduces a host of commuter-friendly measures, including an unlimited travel annual pass for just Rs 3,000 and a shift to a transparent, distance-based tolling system.

Unlimited Travel With Rs 3,000 Annual Pass

One of the most striking features of the new policy is the introduction of an annual pass priced at Rs 3,000, allowing car owners to travel unlimited kilometres on national highways, expressways, and state expressways for a full year. This is a substantial change from the current system, where only monthly passes are available and are typically limited to local travel across specific toll plazas. With the new annual pass, there will be no need for separate passes for different highways, and payment can be made seamlessly through the FASTag account, making the process both convenient and unified.

The policy was initially considered to include a lifetime pass for Rs 30,000, but consensus could not be reached on this proposal. Nevertheless, the Rs 3,000 annual pass is expected to provide up to 50% relief in toll fees for the average commuter, making long-distance and frequent travel far more affordable. This move is designed to benefit not only daily commuters but also those who travel regularly for business or leisure, offering predictability and significant savings over the year.

Distance-Based Tolling and Per-Kilometre Charges

Another major reform in the draft policy is the shift from traditional toll plazas to a distance-based tolling system. Under the new rules, toll charges will be calculated per kilometre travelled, rather than at fixed points, ensuring that commuters pay only for the actual distance covered. For cars, the proposed rate is approximately Rs 50 per 100 kilometres, which is both transparent and equitable compared to the previous system where drivers often paid for stretches of road they did not fully use.

The government plans to phase out physical toll booths in favour of a fully digital, GPS-based toll collection system. This will enable automatic deduction of tolls based on real-time tracking of vehicle movement, eliminating the need to stop at toll plazas and significantly reducing congestion and travel time. FASTag will remain mandatory for all four-wheelers, and vehicles without a valid FASTag will face double toll charges or penalties. The new system will also be integrated with digital payment platforms, allowing for seamless transactions and real-time monitoring via mobile apps.

The revised toll slabs for 2025, as per vehicle category, are as follows for a 100 km stretch:

– Car/Jeep/Van: Rs 110 (distance-based, FASTag required)

– Light Commercial Vehicle: Rs 180

– Bus/Truck: Rs 360 (peak hour surcharges may apply)

– Heavy Construction Vehicles: Rs 580

– Oversized Vehicles: Rs 720

– Electric Vehicles: Rs 80 (with a 20% discount to promote EV usage)

– Two-wheelers remain exempt except on select private roads.

Monthly pass users will see an average rate of Rs 1,800, while the new annual pass at Rs 3,000 offers unlimited travel, making it the most cost-effective option for frequent travellers.

A Step Towards Smarter, Greener Highways

The New Toll Policy Draft 2025 is a leap towards smarter, more efficient, and commuter-friendly highways. By digitising toll collection, basing charges on actual usage, and offering substantial relief through the annual pass, the government aims to reduce congestion, lower emissions, and make road travel more affordable and transparent for all. Commuters are encouraged to update their FASTag accounts and prepare for the transition to ensure uninterrupted, hassle-free journeys in the new era of Indian highways

ED Raids Ex-Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas Home in Rajasthan Over Massive PACL Scam Probe

In connection with one of India’s largest financial frauds, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted search operations at the Jaipur residence of senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan transport minister, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas. The move is part of the agency’s ongoing investigation into the Rs 48,000 crore PACL ponzi scheme, which allegedly defrauded millions of investors.

Officials confirmed that simultaneous searches were being carried out at more than 15 sites across multiple states, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Delhi, as authorities seek to trace assets and potential beneficiaries linked to the scam.

The PACL case revolves around illegal investment schemes disguised as real estate offerings. Over 5.8 crore individuals, including nearly 28 lakh from Rajasthan alone, are believed to have been lured into fraudulent land deals that never materialised. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had earlier flagged the company for operating unregulated collective investment schemes.

Khachariyawas’s Family Previously Questioned

Khachariyawas, whose family was previously questioned in 2020 over suspicious land transactions allegedly tied to PACL, responded to Tuesday’s raids with strong criticism of the ruling BJP. Speaking to the media from outside his home, he claimed the action was politically driven. “The BJP is misusing agencies like the ED to settle scores. I’ve done nothing wrong and will cooperate fully,” he said.

According to him, no prior summons was issued. “They should have sent a notice. Had they called me, I would have gone myself. This is not how investigations should be conducted,” he told reporters. He also pointed out that the house under search is registered in the name of his father, Laxman Singh Shekhawat, younger brother of BJP founding member Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

As the raid unfolded, dozens of Congress workers and supporters gathered outside Khachariyawas’s residence, shouting slogans against the BJP and accusing the Centre of orchestrating a political witch-hunt.

Khachariyawas Criticises BJP Over Raid

Khachariyawas added that his father is over 85 years old and his mother has been ill for weeks, condemning the ED’s decision to target the family home during such a time. “If this is how they treat people related to their own founding leaders, imagine what they’d do to political opponents,” he said, calling the BJP “drunk on power.”

The ED’s case stems from a CBI FIR that alleged PACL collected thousands of crores from the public under the false promise of allotting land or returning money on maturity. Investigators say the funds were laundered through shell companies, particularly in Kolkata, under the guise of development expenses.

Despite the strong pushback from Khachariyawas, ED sources maintain that the searches are based on material evidence pointing to financial links with PACL-related entities. As of now, no official ED statement has been released naming Khachariyawas as a direct accused.

This latest development has reignited the political debate over the use of central agencies, especially as elections loom in several states. Congress leaders are expected to issue a joint statement condemning the ED’s actions in the coming days.

Muslim Woman Brutally Assaulted with Sticks, Pipes Outside a Bengaluru Mosque

A shocking incident from Bengaluru has sparked public outrage. A 38-year-old domestic worker, Shabina Banu, was brutally assaulted outside a mosque in Tavarekere village. The incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Channagiri taluk, on April 9, 2025.

However the attack which was meant to be a family dispute soon turned brutal. It reportedly occurred after a domestic dispute escalated into mob violence. The whole incident was recorded by the locals. The video was widely circulated on social media leading to widespread outrage.

Domestic Dispute Turns Violent

The alleged incident in question dates back to April 7. It all began when Shabina’s relative Nasreen (32) visited her at home. During the same time, a man named Fayaz also came to her residence. According to reports, the three of them went for a short outing to Bukkambudi hill. The group returned back to Shabina’s home later in the day.

However things took a drastic change as Shabina’s husband, Jameel Ahmed Shameer, came home and found them together. Jameel allegedly became enraged in anger and later approached the Jama Masjid in Tavarekere. He then filed an official complaint against his wife, her relative, and Fayaz.

Mob Assault Outside Mosque

Following Jameel’s complaint, the mosque committee summoned Shabina, Nasreen, and Fayaz on April 9. But as soon as Shabina arrived she was reportedly attacked by a group of men just outside the mosque premises.

The brutal assault on the woman was carried out using sticks, pipes, clubs, and even stones. The group of men beat Shabina with sticks and pipes violently while her husband Jameel was present on the scene. The whole incident was recorded on a mobile phone and circulated widely on social media, prompting mass outrage.

Following the assault, Shabina wasted no time in filing a complaint. According to the victim’s complaint, the mob attacked her with the intention to kill her. The disturbing visuals and videos circulating on social media led to immediate police intervention.

Swift Police Action and Arrests

Based on Shabina’s complaint filed on April 11 and the video footage as proof the Davanagere police registered an FIR (No. 202/2025) at the Channagiri Police Station. The complaint was filed under the relevant sections of newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This includes attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy, and assault.

Six individuals were immediately arrested in connection with the case.

The accused have been identified as:

  1. Mohammad Niyaz (32) – driver

  4. Inayat Ullah (51) – local resident

  5. Dastgir (24) – bike mechanic

  6. Rasool T.R. (42) – fisherman at Bukkambudi Lake

Ongoing Investigation and Public Outcry

According to reports, Shabina sustained multiple serious injuries during the assault. She is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. However, the incident has ignited strong reactions from the public and human rights groups. Netizens and Activists are demanding stringent action against the perpetrators. Many are also questioning the role of the mosque committee in the events leading to the violence.

Meanwhile, the investigation remains ongoing as informed by the authorities.

Mukesh Nita Ambani Antilia_
Mukesh Nita Ambani Antilia_
Ambani’s Antilia!

Private Residence

Waqf Board

Waqf

Kailash Satyarthi Highlights India’s Tradition of Philanthropy

At Global Justice, Love, and Peace Summit, Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi talked on India’s tradition of philanthropy

At the Global Justice, Love, and Peace Summit in Dubai on 13 April 2025, Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi reflected on India’s enduring tradition of philanthropy. Speaking to an audience of global leaders, activists, and corporate figures, Satyarthi emphasised the growing need for compassion and action in a world marked by inequality and conflict. His speech underscored how philanthropy, deeply rooted in Indian culture, continues to play a pivotal role in addressing societal challenges.

Satyarthi highlighted the historical legacy of Indian philanthropy, citing examples of corporate leaders such as the Tatas, Bajajs, and Godrejs, who have long championed social welfare initiatives. He acknowledged their contributions as part of India’s heritage of giving but cautioned against complacency. “Intent alone is not enough,” he remarked. “If we keep talking about these things without putting them into practice, we end up spending a lot of energy, way more than what we get back in return.” His call to action resonated with the summit’s theme of integrating love, justice, and peace into global efforts for change.

The Nobel Laureate also praised the summit’s symbolic naming, noting that it encapsulated values essential for fostering harmony and progress. He expressed hope that participants would carry forward the message of compassion and collaboration to create a more equitable world. Satyarthi’s remarks served as both a celebration of India’s philanthropic spirit and a reminder of the work still needed to translate noble intentions into impactful actions.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Satyarthi’s reflections also spotlighted the evolving role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in India. Over recent decades, Indian corporations have increasingly embraced CSR as a means to contribute to societal development. Organisations like the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF) have partnered with businesses to channel CSR funds towards initiatives aimed at eradicating child labour, trafficking, and other forms of exploitation.

The KSCF has worked closely with corporate leaders to implement sustainable community projects and sponsor child-friendly villages across India. By leveraging CSR funds effectively, these collaborations have empowered underprivileged children through education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities. For instance, companies supporting KSCF have helped establish Bal Mitra Grams (Child-Friendly Villages), which serve as models for holistic child development.

Satyarthi’s advocacy extends beyond financial contributions; he emphasises ethical practices and long-term commitments from corporations. His vision aligns with global efforts to integrate social responsibility into business strategies, ensuring that economic growth benefits all sections of society. As he noted during the summit, “Philanthropy must be transformative rather than transactional.”

India’s corporate sector has responded positively to this call for action. Leading companies have not only increased their CSR budgets but also aligned their initiatives with broader goals such as those outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This alignment has amplified the impact of philanthropic efforts, addressing systemic issues like poverty and inequality while fostering sustainable development.

In conclusion, Kailash Satyarthi’s reflections at the Dubai summit highlighted both the rich tradition of Indian philanthropy and the critical role of corporate leaders in driving meaningful change. His message serves as a powerful reminder that while intent is important, it is action that ultimately transforms lives. By building on this legacy and embracing innovative approaches to giving, India can continue to lead by example in creating a more compassionate and equitable world.
