Chandra Grahan 2025:

Chandra Grahan 2025 Date and Time: Lunar Eclipse 2025

Chandra Grahan 2025:

Chandra Grahan 2025:

Lunar Eclipse 2025

IND vs AUS Highlights Champions Trophy:

IND vs AUS Highlights Champions Trophy:

IND vs AUS Highlights Champions Trophy:

Worrisome Drug Quality Defects: 145 Medicines Labeled Unsafe for Use

In a startling update, 145 medications from reputable pharmaceutical companies have failed quality assessments, raising significant alarms regarding patient safety. Among these, 52 drugs were deemed substandard by the Central Drug Control Laboratory, while 93 failed evaluations from various state drug authorities.
These impacted medicines encompass commonly used therapies for blood pressure, infections, and allergies, jeopardizing the health of millions. A recent governmental report disclosed that 145 distinct drugs from prominent brands did not pass safety checks. Specifically, 52 drugs were marked as failing by the Central Drug Control Laboratory, whereas 93 were rejected by several state authorities.
Earlier this year, the central government classified these medications as “Not of Standard Quality” (NSQ), indicating that they do not meet the required standards. This list includes popular products, such as Glenmark Healthcare’s widely utilized blood pressure medication, Telma AM, and Alkem Healthcare’s Ondem 4 for nausea relief. Additionally, antibiotics for treating tonsillitis, bronchitis, throat and ear infections, allergy treatments, and cough syrups are also included.

Key Issues and Health Hazards

Several frequently prescribed drugs identified as “Not of Standard Quality” (NSQ) consist of:

1. Telma AM (Telmisartan & Amlodipine) – Blood Pressure Treatment

– Manufactured by: Glenmark Healthcare
– Problem: Failed dissolution testing, indicating potentially ineffective release of the active ingredient.
– Health Risk: Poor blood pressure management can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and kidney issues. Individuals dependent on this medication may face increased risks of severe health problems due to inadequate hypertension control.

2. Ondem 4 (Ondansetron) – Medication for Nausea

– Manufactured by: Alkem Healthcare
– Problem: Did not meet quality standards, risking its effectiveness.
– Health Risk: Primarily used to combat nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy, surgery, or experiencing severe gastroenteritis. If ineffective, patients may suffer from dehydration, imbalanced electrolytes, and a heightened chance of hospitalization.

3. Cefuroxime Axetil Tablets – Antibiotic for Infections

– Manufactured by: Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
– Problem: Failed dissolution testing, hindering its proper absorption in the body.
– Health Risk: This antibiotic is essential for treating bacterial infections like bronchitis, tonsillitis, and urinary tract infections. If the medication does not dissolve adequately, infections might persist, leading to severe complications, antibiotic resistance, and prolonged illness.

Scope of the Issue

Many of these drugs were produced in major pharmaceutical centers including Gujarat (Vadodara, Ahmedabad), Himachal Pradesh (Baddi), Maharashtra (Tarapur), Uttarakhand (Roorkee, Haridwar), and Puducherry. In January 2025, random sampling by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) across various states validated these concerning results.
Furthermore, West Bengal’s drug regulatory authorities identified two crucial medicines failing quality tests: Telmisartan, used for heart patients, and Amoxicillin & Potassium Clavulanate, a widely prescribed antibiotic. These failures expose critical shortcomings in pharmaceutical quality assurance, putting public health at risk.

Consequences and Immediate Actions Required

The collapse of such vital medications could have dire repercussions for patients who rely on them for their health. Substandard drugs may lead to useless treatments, deteriorating health conditions, drug resistance, and in extreme cases, even death.
This situation underscores the urgent need for reforms in drug production and quality verification. Stricter compliance with safety regulations and consistent, transparent inspections are crucial to avert future occurrences. The health of millions rests on the integrity of the pharmaceutical sector— where compromise is not an option.

Indian celebrities who have been victims of body shaming in the past

Indian Cricketer Rohit Sharma - Photo AFP
Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma is the latest celebrity to fall prey to body shaming. The captain has been targeted by Congress national spokesperson Shama Mohamed, who called Sharma “fat for a sportsperson”. In a now deleted X post, the politician not only bodyshamed Sharma but also questioned his leadership abilities. She wrote, “Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had.”
Reacting to her statement, Pawan Khera, chairman of the Congress party’s media and publicity department, expressed in an X post, “Shama Mohamed… made certain remarks about a cricketing legend that do not reflect the party’s position… The Indian National Congress holds the contributions of sporting icons in the highest regard and does not endorse any statements that undermine their legacy.”
Meanwhile, TMC MP Sougata Roy also participated into the controversy by saying that “India wins because the other players play well, but the captain doesn’t contribute much…”
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has condemned the recent remarks made by the Congress spokesperson and senior Trinamool Congress leader about the Indian cricketer, calling it “outright pathetic”. Taking to X, he wrote, “Congress and TMC should leave sportspersons alone as they are fully capable of handling their professional lives. Remarks made by leaders from these parties, indulging in body shaming and questioning an athlete’s place in the team, are not only deeply shameful but also outright pathetic. Such comments undermine the hard work and sacrifices that our sportspersons make to represent the country on the global stage.”
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has reacted to the controversy slamming Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed for bodyshaming Indian cricket team captain. “It’s very unfortunate this kind of remarks come from such a person who is on a responsible post to our captain, on a meanwhile time when India is playing an ICC tournament and the team is all set to play Semi final,” said Saikia told news agnecy ANI.
While the Indian cricket team skipper faces this nasty attack, here is taking a look into few other Indian celebrities who fell prey to body shaming and fat shaming in the past.
Sonakshi Sinha ANI Photo

Sonakshi Sinha

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has always been an advocate of body positivity, recently opened up on being a victim of body shaming. The actress has been fat shamed since her school days and hit the gym for the first time at the age of 18. In a recent interview, the actress said that during the early days of her career, she was once denied the lead role in a film for being overweight; instead, the actress was offered a small insignificant role in the same film. Recalling the incident, Sonakshi has said that the harsh comments about her body had left her in tears. The Heeramandi actress has also revealed that she avoids swimming in Mumbai or India because of her body image concerns. This was because she is anxious about being secretly clicked and her swimming photos being splashed all over the internet. However, the actress says she enjoys swimming once she is travelling.
Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has time and again opened up on body positivity and on how she has been a victim of body shaming. Vidya has revealed that she has been replaced several times in films because she was considered overweight for a heroine’s role. “Before every film, I would get asked by the producers and directors if I could shed some weight,” the actress once expressed at an event.
However, Vidya Balan shed a few kilos ahead of the release of her latest film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which released in November last year, where she played the protagonist Manjulika. The actress revealed in an interview that she lost weight by controlling her diet and working out daily. Vidya Balan shared that she had removed foods that increase inflammation in her from her diet and included anti-inflammatory foods.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

One of Bollywood’s all time most beautiful actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has also not been spared from body shaming by online trolls. The actress embraced motherhood in 2011 and it was during this period when she was targeted by trolls. Aishwarya fell prey to body shaming after giving birth to her daughter Aaradhya. But she handled the criticism with a positive attitude and gave a fitting reply to the trolls when more than motherhood, her post-delivery weight became the topic of discussion. She was all over the headlines and was badly trolled for the same.
“It’s not something that I really need to even be discussing giving so much attention to. It’s normal. It was natural in my case. That was the natural turn that my body took in terms of whether I gained weight or I had water retention or whatever else that goes with the space. I was comfortable. I stepped out in public when I could take time out from my baby. And if I did think it a big deal, I would have been in hiding or would have done something about it. So if want to lose it overnight, it is possible. But that’s not the choice that I was making and I pretty much made that evident. And I wasn’t disturbed by it. If people were, well I guess, I hope they enjoyed the drama because I was busy leading a very real life. With my baby,” the actress said as reply to trolls in a throwback interview.
Arjun Kapoor (Photo by SUJIT JAISWAL / AFP)

Arjun Kapoor

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has also been a victim of fat shaming. The actor used to weigh 140 kgs before venturing into Bollywood and had shed 50 kilos before his debut film “Ishaqzaade”. Arjun has been vocal about gaining weight, his struggles to get in shape and the perception of fitness. Talking about his body transformation in at an event a few years ago, the actor had said that fitness is equated with being thin in our country. “Fitness is equated to being thin. During Ishaqzaade, I was 95 kgs, which is a lot of weight to carry. But, it was fine as I had abs. India has issues with colour, size and structure. I am a big (structure) guy. I embrace it positively.” Talking about being a target of body shaming, Arjun had expressed, “You can’t put other people down. You might be slightly overweight, doesn’t mean you go into a dark hole.”
Swara Bhasker

Swara Bhasker

Motherhood is never easy and it is all the more difficult if you’re a celebrity because your body change is often not embraced positively on social media. Just like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, another B-Town actress Swara Bhasker was also body shamed after giving birth to her child. Swara who welcomed her daughter Raabiyaa in September 2023, recently opened up about the body shaming she has faced postpartum. The actress also expressed that if a global beauty icon like Aishwarya Rai wasn’t spared from public scrutiny after childbirth, then she is nobody as compared to that.
“Women in the glamour industry are never truly left alone. There’s always some level of judgment—whether it’s about their life choices, career, or even how they navigate motherhood,” Swara said in a recent interview. Recalling Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s experience, Swara further said, “I remember watching an interview where Aishwarya was asked about not getting back into shape quickly. She handled it with such grace. A less gracious person would have been angry, but she simply said, ‘I was just living my life with my baby… my real life.’ That resonated with me so much. If the world’s most beautiful woman wasn’t spared, who the hell am I?”

UP Woman Executed in UAE for Infant’s Death

Shahzadi Khan
Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old hailing from Uttar Pradesh India, was put to death in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 15 2025 on charge of a murder of a four-month-old child under her care. The execution that was carried out in Abu Dhabi has raised eyebrows and ignited debate about the legal procedure and diplomatic manoeuvres leading up to the case.
Khan, who was from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, had been employed as a caregiver in Abu Dhabi since 2021. She worked for an Indian family and was tasked with caring for their one-month-old baby. Tragic events, however, occurred on 7 December 2022, when the baby died a short while after undergoing routine vaccinations.

Legal Proceedings and Execution

After the baby’s death, Khan was detained and later found guilty of murder. On July 12 2023, the Abu Dhabi court sentenced her with a death penalty. Despite the appeals and diplomatic moves by the Indian government, the UAE’s highest court, the Court of Cassation, upheld the sentence.
Khan was thus executed on February 15 2025, of which the Indian embassy in the UAE was notified officially only on 28 February. The delay in the communication has only added to the agony of Khan’s family and raised questions regarding the transparency of the procedure.
Khan’s last call to her family was made on February 13, two days prior to her execution. In this call, she expressed her concerns regarding her fate, informing her father, Shabbir Khan, that she may not make it and that it could be her last call.
Having no knowledge of the execution, Khan’s father had gone to the Delhi High Court inquiring about his daughter’s welfare. It was at a court hearing on March 4 2025 that the Indian government announced the devastating news of her execution.

Ministry of External Affairs Statement

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that all legal help they could offer Khan had been extended, including mercy petitions and pardons being applied to the government of the UAE. But the efforts were unfruitful in stopping the execution.
Khan’s family insists that she is innocent, stating that the baby had died from a faulty vaccination. They further accuse that she was not being well represented by her lawyers during her trial.
The case has also generated debate about the efficacy of diplomatic efforts in such a case. Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma informed the Delhi High Court, “We did our best to save Shahzadi. We hired a law firm there to represent her in court. But the laws there treat the death of an infant severely”.
The killing of Shahzadi Khan has left her family in grief and searching for closure. Preparations are underway for her last rites on March 5 2025 in the UAE. Her brother, Shamsher Khan, has expressed the family’s intention to approach the Indian government for assistance in repatriating her body.
This unfortunate incident puts into perspective the intricacies of global legal frameworks and the difficulties confronting foreign migrant workers. It also emphasises the necessity of strong diplomatic mechanisms and legal assistance for nationals encountering serious allegations abroad.

Trump Pauses Military Aid to Ukraine Amid Tensions with Zelenskyy

Trump - Zelenskyy
US President Donald Trump has ordered to pause all military aid to Ukraine following his contentious Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This decision is aimed at pressurising Kyiv to commit to peace negotiations with Russia, which is in line with President Trump’s stance on the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe.

Oval Office Clash

This announcement of suspension of aid is made against the backdrop of a heated exchange between President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Ukrainian leader’s visit to Washington last week. Reports has suggested that the meeting, which was initially intended to finalise a minerals deal between the two countries, quickly devolved into a confrontation.
Trump criticised Zelenskyy for his perceived lack of gratitude for the support provided to Ukraine by the US support, and his unwillingness to compromise in peace talks with Russia. According to the White House officials, the pause will remain in effect until Ukraine demonstrates a “good-faith commitment” to peace negotiations.
The aid freeze affects critical military supplies, including anti-tank weapons, artillery rounds, and rockets that were either in transit or awaiting shipment. These resources are crucial for Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to repel Russian forces.
This decision of the US president has been framed as part of his broader strategy to end the war quickly. A White House official stated that the administration is reassessing its aid policies to ensure they contribute to a peaceful resolution rather than prolonging the conflict.

Implications and Reactions

The suspension of US military aid has sent shockwaves through Kyiv and its allies. Ukrainian officials have expressed their disappointment while noting that such a move was not entirely unexpected given President Trump’s previous criticisms of NATO allies and his scepticism about continued US involvement in the war.
Domestically, this decision has reignited debates over Trump’s approach to foreign policy. While his supporters argue that the pause aligns with his campaign promise to prioritise American interests and reduce entanglements in foreign conflicts. On the other side of the spectrum, the critics are accusing him of appeasing Russia and jeopardising global alliances.
Reports are also hinting that the Trump administration might be considering easing some sanctions on Russia as part of broader negotiations aimed at improving US-Russia relations. This potential shift has further fuelled concerns about Washington’s commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
This suspension will cause Ukraine to face some major logistical challenges. So far, the US was supplying approximately 30 per cent of Kyiv’s war needs. Now the European allies of Ukraine will need to step up their support to fill the gap. It now remains to be seen whether Europe can mobilise sufficient resources quickly enough.

UNICEF Report Confirms Rape of Children as Young as One During Sudan Violence

Sudan Violence
A special report by the UNICEF confirms that children as young as one year old were reportedly amongst survivors of rape during Sudan’s violent conflicts. In the same press note, UNICEF calls for urgent international efforts to protect and support children in Sudan.
The data compiled by the UN agency on gender based violence in Sudan suggests that 221 rape cases came to light against children since the beginning of 2024. These figures only represent a small fraction of the actual cases, survivors, and their families are often unwilling to come forward due to fear of stigma, rejection, retribution from armed forces or challenges in accessing resources.

UNICEFF’s Take

“Children as young as one being raped by armed men should shock anyone to their core and compel immediate action, said UNICEF executive Director Catherine Russell. “Millions of children in Sudan are at risk of all forms of sexual violence, which is being used as a tactic of war, this is a gross violation of international law and could constitute a war crime. It must stop,” added Russell.
Of the total child rape survivors reported, 66% are girls while 33% boys who survived rape are at the risk of facing social stigma and the unique challenge of reporting, seeking help and accessing services.

While today’s match will occur in Dubai International Stadium, the second semi-final scheduled on Wednesday will be played between New Zealand and South Africa in Lahore. Today’s match starts at 1 PM, local time.
The winners of both the semi-final matches will come face-to-face on Sunday, with one of the teams winning the ICC Champion Trophy 2025

Key Highlights

Today’s match is supposed to be an ultimate showdown in cricket with the biggest rivalry of the time, between India and Australia at an ICC event. The tournament will see one team winning while the other is dumped out of the tournament.
Travis Head is speculated to be the biggest threat for the Indian team because the left-handed batsman has caused the defeat of the former in recent times. Last time India had faced Travis was in an ODI. It was the World Cup final and he ended up scoring a match-winning century.
To equalise the same, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be seen in a leading position. He eyes his second ICC trophy as the Indian captain. India lost the World Cup finals against Australia in 2023, and now the captain has gotten an opportunity to settle the scores.
