Punjab Pastor Bajinder Singh Sentenced to Life for 2018 Rape Case

Self-styled Punjab pastor Bajinder Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2018 Zirakpur rape case by the Mohali court in Punjab. The eight-year-long trial finally came to an end after the court pronounced its verdict last week.

Bajinder gained fame for his viral ‘Yashu Yashu’ videos and his claims of miraculous healing. He was convicted for sexual misconduct and rape. Bajinder was arrested and taken to Patiala jail after the hearing.

The Rape Allegations

The case came to light in 2018 after a woman accused him of sexual assault. In her complaint she alleged that Bajinder took her to his Mohali residence under the pretext of assisting her in order to settle abroad. After reaching there, he allegedly raped her.

The woman further claimed that initially, she remained silent due to fear. However, she eventually filed a police complaint. This led to Singh’s arrest in July 2018 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The arrest came as he attempted to flee to London. Singh was later detained at Patiala Jail after his conviction.

New Allegations Surface

Amid the ongoing trouble and conviction, two more women came forward with allegations of sexual exploitation at Singh’s dera. According to reports they met with Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, the officiating Akal Takht Jathedar. Both assured them of full support and urged the Punjab government to ensure their safety.

Both women claimed that even after filing FIRs, police delayed action. This left them feeling vulnerable to threats and intimidation. One of the women, who is also featured in a viral video allegedly showing Singh assaulting someone. She stated that she had been involved in the dera for several years.

Court’s Verdict

Reports suggests that Bajinder Singh was convicted under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, five other accused individuals were acquitted. This includes pastors Jatinder and Akbar.

The victim in the case expressed her desire for Singh to remain in prison, fearing he would reoffend upon release. Advocate Anil Sagar, counsel for the victim, emphasised the need for exemplary punishment.

“There is a punishment of 10-20 years for the offense of rape depending upon the circumstances of the case. In this case, I pray for the highest quantum because this person used to lure people in the name of religion. It is important to punish him exemplarily. I hope that after this, the girls who are facing such crimes will come forth and speak about the atrocities,” he said.

Ongoing Legal Troubles

However, the legal troubles for Bajinder are far from over. In February 2025, another FIR was registered against him in an assault case. This case as well was registered by a woman named Ranjeet Kaur. She alleged that Singh physically assaulted her and others after a prayer session. In addition, Singh faces another sexual harassment case filed by a 22-year-old woman.

Mosquitoes And Blood Group: वैज्ञानिकों के मुताबिक, मच्छर हमारे Blood से Protein लेते हैं। एक रिसर्च के मुताबिक, O Blood Group वाले लोगों को A ब्लड ग्रुप की तुलना में दोगुना मच्छर काटते हैं। वहीं B ब्लड ग्रुप के लोगों को सामान्य रूप से मच्छर काटते हैं। दरअसल, हर एक ब्लड ग्रुप अपने अलग Protein या Antigens होते हैं। जैसे ए ब्लड ग्रुप वाले लोगों के RBC में A Antigens होते हैं। B ब्लड ग्रुप वालों में B, AB वालों में A और B, O Blood Group वालों में A और B, दोनों नहीं होते। आम तौर पर कहा जाता है कि O Blood Group वाले लोगों की तरफ़ मच्छर ज्यादा आकर्षित होते हैं। साल 1974 में एक रिसर्च की गई थी, जिसमें 102 लोगों पर अध्ययन किया गया और उसमें सामने आया कि O Blood Group वाले लोगों को Mosquito Bite की ज़्यादा समस्या होती है।

Mosquitoes And Blood Group: जिन लोगों को ज्यादा पसीना आता है, उन्हें मच्छर ज्यादा काटते हैं। पसीने में Lactic Acid, Uric Acid और Amonia जैसे तत्व होते हैं, जिनसे मच्छर जल्दी आकर्षित होते हैं। यही वजह है कि Physical Excercise के दौरान भी मच्छर ज्यादा काटने लगते हैं। Female Mosquito Bite-एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, नर मच्छर की तुलना में मादा मच्छरों के काटने का डर अधिक रहता है। एक्सपर्ट्स के अनुसार, मादा मच्छरों में सूंघने की क्षमता अधिक रहती है। ऐसे में जैसे ही हमारे शरीर से Carbon Dioxide गैस निकलती है, वैसे ही मादा मच्छर हमारी ओर अधिक आकर्षित हो जाती है और काटती है। इसके साथ ही प्रजनन के दौरान Female Mosquitoes को कुछ पोषक तत्वों की आवश्यकता होती है, जो उन्हें इंसानों के Blood से प्राप्त होती है।

Mosquitoes में देखने और रंग पहचानने की क्षमता

Mosquitoes में देखने और रंग पहचानने की क्षमता भी होती है। मच्छर लाल, नीले, बैंगनी और काले रंगों को आसानी से पहचान लेते हैं। इसलिए ऐसा मुमकिन है कि अगर आपने ऐसे किसी रंग के कपड़े पहने हैं तो आपको मच्छर ज्यादा काट रहे हों, जबकि आपके साथ सफेद या पीले रंग के कपड़े पहने शख्स को मच्छरों का पता भी न चले। Beer पीने से शरीर में Ethanol की मात्रा बढ़ जाती है। Ethanol मच्छरों को बहुत आकर्षित करता है। इसलिए बीयर पीने के बाद मच्छर ज्यादा आकर्षित होने लगते हैं और ज्यादा काटते हैं।

मच्छरों को ज्यादा आकर्षित करने के कुछ ऐसे कारण होते हैं जिनसे आप बच नहीं सकते। मसलन, आप अपना Blood Group नहीं बदल सकते। ऐसे में मच्छरों से बचाव ही आपके पास एकमात्र उपाय है। मच्छरों से बचाव के लिए सबसे पहले ऐसे कपड़े पहनें, जिसमें आपका पूरा शरीर ढक जाएं। पंखे या कूलर के पास रहें। मच्छरदानी लगा के सोएं। Mosquito Bite से कई तरह की समस्याएं हो सकती हैं। इसलिए हमें अपने आस-पास साफ-सफाई का विशेष ख्याल रखना जरूरी है। पानी वाली जगहों में मच्छरों का खतरा सबसे ज्यादा होता है। मच्छर के काटने से Dengue, Maleria और Chicken Gunia जैसी खतरनाक बीमारी हो सकती है। इससे बचाव के लिए घरों में कीटनाशक, दवाइयां और Mosquito Repellent जैसे उपायों का सहारा लें। इसके अलावा, लहसुन की तीखी और कटु गंध मच्छर के काटने से, और यहां तक कि अपने घर में घुसने से भी रोकती है। इस उपाय का उपयोग करने के लिए आप लहसुन की कुछ कलियां पीसकर पानी में उबाल लें और जिस कमरें को आप मच्छर मुक्त रखना चाहते हैं वहां चारों ओर स्प्रे करें।

Nitrogen Gas Leak in Rajasthan Factory Claims Life, Over 40 Affected

A poisonous nitrogen gas leak in Beawar, Rajasthan killed the factory owner while it caused health issues for more than 40 nearby residents. During the night of Monday, the incident at Sunil Trading Company in the Badiya area killed multiple animals as well. A gas leak triggered by a tanker inside the factory warehouse rapidly moved through the nearby residential districts which created massive public alarm.

The factory owner, Sunil Singhal, fought to stop the leak the entire night. His desperate attempts to stop the leak failed, and his health continued to decline. The toxic gas took his life at a hospital facility in Ajmer after medical personnel received him for treatment. Locals within this area developed both breathing complications and irritated eyes. More than 60 people sought medical treatment at both state-operated and private hospitals located in the area.

Emergency Evacuation Performed to Stop Further Issue

Local officials, including the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP), alongside fire brigade teams, reached the site after receiving alert notifications. Security teams maintained continuous efforts until 11 pm to stop the gas leak and regain control of the situation. The authorities decided to evacuate all nearby areas as a safety measure.

Several pets, along with stray animals, died because gas fumes leaked from the factory. The quick spread of the leak placed the whole community in a state of panic. A quick investigation started to determine what caused the leak and authorities ordered complete closure of the factory to perform additional safety assessments. Local residents alerted Ward councilor Hansraj Sharma about the situation which enabled him to notify both the fire brigade and administration services for emergency response.

Ongoing Monitoring and Factory Inspection Ordered

The administration assured the public that the situation was under control, though many remain concerned about potential future risks. Authorities have also instructed a detailed inspection of the acid factory to prevent similar incidents. Emergency personnel, including the fire brigade, sealed the tanker and took necessary steps to contain the hazardous situation. Despite the immediate effects subsiding, the authorities continue to monitor the area closely.

This tragic incident highlights the need for better safety measures at industrial facilities to avoid such hazards in the future.

Noida Manufacturing Units Catch Massive Fire

A fire broke out at a factory in Greater Noida Habibpur on Monday afternoon, which spread to nearby units. A total of 175 firefighters and 35 fire engines battled for approximately six hours to control the fire, which started in a warehouse where cardboard boxes for coolers are stored.

According to officials, the fire slowly escalated and spread to the factory where coolers are manufactured, other adjacent warehouses and a nearby teddy bear manufacturing factory.

“We were alerted that a cooler-making company located in the Ecotech Police Station area had caught fire. It spread to manufacturing companies around it,” officials told to the media. Pradeep Kumar, the chief fire officer (CFO) of Noida, said that no one was injured in the incident.

Massive Fire

Firefighters faced a lot of difficulties at the scene because there had not been many instances of a fire of this scale. Fortunately, there were no chemicals inside the factory, which only had cartons and plastic moulds.

Self-styled Punjab pastor Bajinder Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2018 Zirakpur rape case by the Mohali court in Punjab. The eight-year-long trial finally came to an end after the court pronounced its verdict last week.

Bajinder gained fame for his viral ‘Yashu Yashu’ videos and his claims of miraculous healing. He was convicted for sexual misconduct and rape. Bajinder was arrested and taken to Patiala jail after the hearing.

The Rape Allegations

The case came to light in 2018 after a woman accused him of sexual assault. In her complaint she alleged that Bajinder took her to his Mohali residence under the pretext of assisting her in order to settle abroad. After reaching there, he allegedly raped her.

New Allegations Surface

Court’s Verdict

Reports suggests that Bajinder Singh was convicted under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, five other accused individuals were acquitted. This includes pastors Jatinder and Akbar.

The victim in the case expressed her desire for Singh to remain in prison, fearing he would reoffend upon release. Advocate Anil Sagar, counsel for the victim, emphasised the need for exemplary punishment.
