The CSR Journal Magazine

Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. has entered into a partnership with the State Bank of India (SBI) to enhance plastic waste management across SBI’s branches and offices. This collaboration, formalised through a Letter of Association on September 5, aims to promote responsible practices in managing plastic waste. The initiative includes training and awareness sessions for SBI employees and housekeeping personnel.

As part of the “Bottles for Change” initiative, Bisleri plans to educate staff on proper plastic waste handling, collection, and the importance of recycling. This initiative targets institutions, housing societies, corporates, and communities, with the goal of fostering a sustainable approach to plastic usage.

The partnership is also designed to align with India’s broader environmental goals, particularly the transition towards a circular economy. By encouraging responsible waste management, the collaboration seeks to contribute meaningfully to national efforts aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability.

Impact on Environmental Strategy

The collaboration underscores SBI’s commitment to sustainable development and its ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2055. Ravi Ranjan, Managing Director of SBI, emphasised that empowering employees with knowledge about sustainable practices fosters awareness that extends into their communities.

Ranjan noted that partnerships like this are vital in realizing India’s vision for a developed nation by 2047. By integrating sustainability into workplace culture, SBI aims to enact change that resonates beyond their operations and positively impacts society.

Conversely, Dr. Angelo George, CEO of Bisleri, highlighted that effective plastic waste management begins with awareness and collective efforts. He articulated that the partnership leverages SBI’s extensive reach alongside Bisleri’s expertise to encourage responsible plastic segregation and recycling practices among employees.

Broader Commitment to Sustainability

As part of their corporate social responsibility, both organisations are committed to fostering greater awareness about responsible waste management practices across India. This alliance reflects a concerted effort towards environmental stewardship while promoting sustainability across all operations.

Bisleri International has a longstanding focus on purity and safety, being one of the country’s leading packaged water brands. Its operations are supported by a strong distribution network and adherence to rigorous quality tests, which further complements the objectives of this partnership.

Both entities aim to establish a scalable model that encourages corporate responsibility in managing plastic resources, thus aiming to create a sustainable future for India through their collaborative efforts. As the initiative unfolds, it is expected to yield valuable insights and practices that can be beneficial for various sectors in the economy.
