Bihar: Lalu Prasad Yadav on family feud “I am here to handle it”

The CSR Journal Magazine

Lalu Prasad, the supremo of Rashtriya Janata Dal said during the legislature party meeting that, the family feud will be resolved soon. He advices all 25 elected MLAs of the party that, they should concentrate on the politics. On his family fight, he said, “That would be resolved within the family,” Lalu said, adding, “I am here to handle it”.

Lalu’s comments came at a meeting of RJD legislators that unanimously selected his younger son Tejaswi Yadav, as the leader of the legislative party.

Lalu’s daughter Rohini Acharya’s recent announcement to step away from politics has triggered wide political reactions in Bihar, especially after the RJD poor performance in the recent Assembly elections, where the party secured only 25 of the over 140 seats it contested in the 243-member House.

These things happen in families: Misa

Lalu’s other daughter and Patliputra MP Misa Bharti, also present at the meeting on Monday, told reporters that they should focus more on covering the NDA promises, such as 10 million jobs, ₹2 lakh each assistance to Jeevika Didis and Bihar’s industrial growth, instead of family issues. “These things happen in families and get settled through talks,” she said.

Rift widened

The rift within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family seems to be widening two days after a massive setback for RJD in Bihar assembly election. A day after Rohini’s public outburst and her announcement that she was cutting ties with the family, four more of the RJD chief’s daughters, Rajlakshmi, Ragini, Hema and Chanda, quietly left the family’s Patna residence with their children and travelled to Delhi, signaling a deepening split in one of Bihar’s most influential political families.

What Rohini Acharya is saying

Day after quitting politics and ‘disowning’ her family, former Bihar chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya has levelled serious allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav.

In a series of posts on X, on Sunday, Rohini charged cohorts of her brother, including accusing her of donating a “bad” kidney to her father, “in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket”

She further alleged that she had been

“driven out” of her home by Tejashwi, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, a close friend since her brother’s cricketing days.

“Yesterday abuses were heaped on me and I was accused of donating my bad kidney to my father, and that too in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket”, said Acharya, who had contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat in last year’s general elections.
