Bihar Congress takes strict action, expells seven leaders for anti-party activities

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bihar Congress has expelled seven leaders from the primary membership of the party on charges of anti-party activities.

Those against whom action has been taken include former vice-president of Congress Seva Dal Aditya Paswan, former vice-president of State Congress Shakeelur Rahman, former president of Kisan Congress Rajkumar Rajan, former president of Extremely Backward Department Kundan Gupta, President of Banka District Congress Committee Kanchana Kumari and Ravi Golden of Nalanda.

The State Congress Disciplinary Committee has issued an order expelling them for six years. Disciplinary Committee Chairman Kapildev Prasad issued the order.

Action taken after satisfactory explanation not received

The chairman of the disciplinary committee stated that the committee did not find the explanations received from the leaders concerned satisfactory. Their actions clearly fell under three of the five criteria for violating party discipline.

The Committee noted that the leaders had consistently made statements outside party forums against the programmes and decisions of the Congress.

Deliberately disregarded the instructions of the competent authorities. Seriously damaged the reputation of the party by making baseless and misleading allegations of ticket buying and selling in print and social media.

The committee also clarified that the party had adopted complete transparency on the issues raised by the leaders to spread misinformation.

Attempts to create confusion within the organization

The official candidates were announced only after the appointment of observers, public relations programmes, meetings of the State Election Committee and detailed review by the All India Election Committee.
Despite this, the conduct of the leaders involved constituted a disregard for decisions taken at various levels of the party. An attempt was made to create confusion within the organization.

The committee also said that even after being appointed as Assembly observers with the consent of Central Observer Avinash Pandey, these leaders continued their indiscipline attitude.

On the basis of all these facts, the State Congress Disciplinary Committee has decided to expel seven leaders from the primary membership of the party for six years.
