Assam BJP Launches ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’; CM Sarma to Inaugurate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has officially launched the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ as part of its preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. This campaign is set to run its first phase from February 28 to March 9. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the yatra at the Gupteshwar Devalay in Dhekiajuli.

Objectives of the Yatra

BJP Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah outlined the aims of the initiative during its launch, stating that the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ is designed to facilitate direct interaction between the Chief Minister and the public. The program will enable officials and state committee members to engage with citizens and gather their blessings. The yatra hopes to disseminate information about developmental activities undertaken over the past decade, with a special focus on the achievements realized in the last five years under Sarma’s leadership.

Participant Support and Engagement

One participant expressed optimism regarding the campaign, highlighting its significance in fostering connections with the people of Assam and garnering their support for the party. The yatra aims to reach out to a substantial audience, targeting one lakh individuals each day as it traverses various regions of Assam.

Campaign Framework and Leadership

Under the dual leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state party President Dilip Saikia, the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ will commence from the Gupteshwar Temple. The BJP plans to implement an eight-day initial phase of the campaign, which is structured to continue until March 9, providing insights into the party’s programs while seeking public endorsement for the forthcoming elections.

Election Preparations and Related Activities

Prior to the yatra’s launch, Chief Minister Sarma took steps to further the BJP’s election campaign by unveiling several “Election Songs” aimed at rallying support for the Assembly elections scheduled for 2026. This unveiling took place at the party’s State Headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, in Guwahati. The three songs that were released were presented during a ceremony attended by key party figures, including party general secretary and MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma, Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah, National Vice President Rekha Verma, and MP Bansuri Swaraj.
