The Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, recently connected with members of the Women Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society in Mahemdavad taluka, Kheda district. This interaction took place on September 18 as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026 initiative, designed to foster community engagement and service. The event also saw participation from local villagers.

Upon arriving at the venue, Sanghavi rode a motorcycle from Gandhinagar, accompanied by young workers, showcasing the spirit of the Seva Yatra. This initiative aims to visit villages, invite the blessings of community elders, engage in cleanliness drives, and offer support to cowsheds and homes for the elderly.

During his speech, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the significance of community involvement in improving rural life. He noted that the programme is crucial for bridging gaps between governmental initiatives and grassroots communities, which helps in implementing various welfare measures effectively.

Focus on Rural Development and Welfare Schemes

Sanghavi elaborated on the various welfare schemes introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 25 years. These initiatives include the provision of pucca houses to economically disadvantaged families through the PM Awas Yojana, enhancing women’s dignity with the ‘Izzat Ghar’ initiative, and ensuring direct financial support to farmers via the Kisan Samman Nidhi, which transfers Rs 6,000 annually to their bank accounts.

He emphasised the transformative impact these policies have had on the lives of ordinary citizens, highlighting how access to electricity and irrigation water has evolved in rural regions. Once characterised by challenges in obtaining essential services, villages now enjoy better access to water and 24-hour electricity, which has significantly improved agricultural practices and overall rural living conditions.

Sanghavi urged the villagers, particularly the women, to actively participate in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. He called for increased efforts to make villages cleaner and to eliminate plastic waste, stressing the importance of communal responsibility in achieving these goals.

Support for Local Enterprises

On the same occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated a home-based initiative by women to produce lamps from cow dung. This move not only showcases entrepreneurial spirit but also aims to promote sustainable practices within the community. The venture reflects efforts to create self-employment opportunities and empower women economically.

The event had a notable presence of office-bearers from the Women Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society, along with cooperative leaders and numerous local women. Their involvement marks a coordinated effort to uplift women’s representation and participation in agricultural and entrepreneurial activities, essential for community development.

Through these interactions, the Deputy Chief Minister aims to strengthen the relationship between the government and local communities, ensuring that welfare measures reach those in need effectively. The commitment to service and community welfare continues to be a focal point of the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
