The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha in Odisha has gained international recognition by setting a new world record for blood donation. On September 17, 2026, to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, a significant blood donation campaign was organised in Bhubaneswar, where an impressive total of 8,810 units of blood were collected in just one day.

According to reports from the Odisha Government, the event was part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan-2026’ initiative. The unprecedented collection was achieved at a single location through coordinated efforts by volunteers and officials. The Health Minister of Odisha, Mukesh Mahaling, underscored the level of organisation required to successfully conduct such a large-scale endeavour.

“This remarkable effort was made possible due to the dedication of 300 officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department, along with 20 specialised staff members from local blood banks. The atmosphere of enthusiasm throughout the country reflects the appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s extensive service to the nation,” Mahaling stated.

Recognition of Achievement and Institutional Support

A representative from the World Book of Records was present to officially acknowledge the achievement by presenting a certificate to the Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha. This recognition serves to highlight the significance of the event and the collective efforts that made it possible.

Moreover, the participation of various governmental agencies played a crucial role in the success of the blood donation camp. The extensive collaboration and planning ensured that everything ran smoothly during the event, facilitating a comprehensive outreach to the community.

Alongside the blood donation activity, located at the same venue, was an inspiring event involving approximately 40,000 tribal students from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). These students engaged in celebrations, which included special prayers and a lighting ceremony, marking the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday.

Tribal Students Celebrate and Express Gratitude

The landmark celebration saw a majority of tribal girls participating, many of whom hail from rural, left-wing extremism-affected areas of Odisha and Jharkhand. Students took the opportunity to express their gratitude towards PM Modi, highlighting the impact of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign on their educational opportunities.

Among the students, Varsha Rani Dharua, a representative from Nakti Deuli in Sambalpur district, shared her experience of how her life transformed after attending KISS. She remarked on the limited educational resources in her village and how the initiative has significantly changed her future prospects.

As a part of the celebrations, students prayed for the Prime Minister’s well-being and ability to continue serving the nation. KISS founder Achyut Samant also noted the enthusiasm displayed by the children and mentioned the efforts made towards addressing Naxalism through education and support for the youth in these affected areas.

In summary, the dual celebration not only commemorated PM Modi’s birthday but also reflected a commitment to community engagement and service through the impressive blood donation drive, uniting numerous individuals towards a common cause.
