Suspect Charged Following Incident

The alleged assailant has been named as Andrew Kris Bzdak, who is accused of stabbing Singh 17 times in various areas, including the arms, chest, and rib cage. Following the violent act, Bzdak was apprehended by law enforcement and is facing charges for attempted first-degree murder. This charge is a felony under Wyoming law and could result in life imprisonment if he is convicted.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi expressed his horror at the attack, citing the broader context of rising anti-South Asian rhetoric in the country.

Krishnamoorthi referenced a recent instance involving the Trump Department of Homeland Security, which allegedly posted a racist caricature of a Sikh truck driver accompanied by derogatory messages.
