Brahmāstra Part Two to Go on Floors After Ramayana, Confirms Namit Malhotra

The CSR Journal Magazine

Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the development of Brahmāstra Part Two will take place after the completion of the project Ramayana. This announcement was made during the global promotional launch of Ramayana at the CinemaCon 2026 event held in Las Vegas, where he was in attendance alongside actor Yash.

This update has reignited interest in the continuation of the Astraverse, nearly four years after the release of the first film in 2022, which hinted at a more extensive narrative focusing on the characters Dev and Amrita.

Addressing the timeline for the sequel, Malhotra indicated that the next chapter in this franchise will commence once work on Ramayana reaches its conclusion. This statement provides one of the clearest indications regarding the future of the Astraverse following initial hints from director Ayan Mukerji concerning forthcoming developments post the release of Brahmāstra.

Details About the Astraverse Continuation

The first film in the series featured prominent actors such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan. It concluded with a cliffhanger that established the backstory for the characters Dev and Amrita, thus preparing the audience for the anticipated second part of the trilogy.

Speculation regarding the sequel had increased significantly in October 2025 when Mukerji posted images from a mountain retreat. Fans observed what seemed to be a script in his hands, along with hashtags that suggested connections to Part 2 and Om. However, the filmmaker did not confirm any specifics at that time.

Malhotra’s recent comments imply that the development of the sequel remains an integral part of the long-term vision for the Astraverse, thereby assuring fans of the continuity of the storyline.

Global Campaign for Ramayana Launched

During CinemaCon 2026, Malhotra and Yash introduced the promotional campaign for Ramayana by showcasing early footage and promotional material from the film. Malhotra described the project’s scale and ambition, comparing the experience of working on it to a combination of “Avatar meets Gladiator.”

The film features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Ram and Sai Pallavi portraying Sita. Yash takes on the role of Ravana, while the cast also includes notable actors such as Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Other prominent figures in the film are Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.

Positioned as a significant global-scale mythological adaptation, Ramayana’s first promotional efforts suggest a robust effort in storytelling. With Brahmāstra 2 anticipated to follow this project upon its completion, Malhotra’s recent remarks provide the strongest indication to date that the storyline of the Astraverse remains actively in development.
