The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has increased inspections in Gautam Buddh Nagar in preparation for Raksha Bandhan to curb the sale of adulterated food products. This initiative aims to ensure consumer safety during the festive period by identifying and eliminating substandard food items from the market.

During this ongoing campaign, officials have collected a total of seven samples, which include paneer, ghevar, khoya, and rasgullas. These samples are being sent for laboratory testing to verify their quality and safety. The inspections are part of a broader effort to uphold food safety standards within the region.

The department has reported the destruction of around 100 kg of rasgullas that were identified as contaminated at a manufacturing facility located in Sarfabad, Sector 72. Upon inspection, officials noted the presence of flies and mosquitoes on the sweets, raising concerns about hygiene standards in the production process.

Details Of The Inspections Conducted

On the evening of August 23, a team consisting of Food Safety Officers conducted inspections at the Jewar toll plaza. During this operation, one sample of paneer was collected from Chaudhary Dairy in Pisawa Jalalpur, Aligarh, which was en route for distribution to Delhi. This proactive approach is intended to ensure that products entering the market meet health and safety regulations.

Additional inspections led to the collection of two more paneer samples from Bhimsen Dairy in Bajna, Mathura. These samples were also being transported for supply throughout Delhi-NCR, highlighting the widespread nature of the quality control efforts being implemented prior to the festival.

On August 24, a separate team, headed by Amar Bahadur Saroj, collected a sample of ghevar from BS Bikaner Sweets situated in Sector 134. Another team acquired samples of khoya and ghevar from Shagun Sweets at Plot No. 66 in Ecotech-2. These inspections further illustrate the extensive activities carried out by the food safety authorities to monitor food quality in the area.

With the rise in demand for sweets during festive occasions, the department remains vigilant in addressing potential health hazards. Mishra underscored the importance of consumer safety, stating that steps would be taken to prevent the distribution of unsafe food products.

Furthermore, Food Safety Officers will continue their extensive inspections across the region. The objective is to guarantee that food quality is upheld, allowing consumers to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with confidence in the safety of the items they purchase. Ongoing efforts will include routine testing and analysis to assess the safety and quality of various food products in circulation.
