YCF Scholarship 2026: Up to ₹5 Lakh for Kids of Hindi Film Industry Workers

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF), a charitable initiative associated with Yash Raj Films, has introduced the second edition of its scholarship programme aimed at assisting the educational aspirations of children from families within the Hindi film industry. This programme is set to commence for the academic year 2026–27 and intends to provide financial aid of up to Rs 5 lakhs per student.

Eligibility for the scholarship extends to the children of registered workers in the Hindi film industry and members of YCF Saathi, who play significant roles within this sector. The selection criteria will consider both academic performance and financial circumstances, ensuring that assistance is directed where it is most needed.

Academic Scope and Coverage

The scholarship programme supports a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at recognised institutions across India. It continues to emphasise disciplines closely linked to the film industry, such as Film Studies, Media & Communication, Animation & Visual Effects, Cinematography, Direction, and Visual Arts. However, this year, the initiative expands to encompass postgraduate studies in fields including Engineering, Medical & Paramedical Sciences, Business & Management, Law, and Information Technology.

This financial support is specifically aimed at covering tuition fees for eligible courses at institutions recognised by NAAC, AICTE, or government accreditation. The overarching goal is to alleviate the financial barriers that hinder access to higher education for students from these families.

According to the findings derived from the YCF Saathi survey, more than 60 per cent of families affiliated with the film industry encounter financial difficulties in funding their children’s higher education. This scholarship scheme is intended to directly address these challenges, thus facilitating potential long-term economic stability through quality educational opportunities.

Application Process and Selection Procedure

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will enter a multi-stage evaluation process designed to ensure thorough selection. This process will involve initial screenings followed by personalised interviews, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of each applicant’s circumstances.

Financial aid will be disbursed directly to the educational institutions of the successful applicants. Those interested in applying for the scholarship can do so through the official channels of the Yash Chopra Foundation, adhering to the application process as outlined in their communications.

Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj Films, expressed the foundation’s commitment to empowering children from Hindi film industry families. He noted that this initiative not only aims to enable young aspirants to pursue their dreams but also reflects a broader commitment to supporting families struggling with educational funding challenges.
