Yami Gautam Addresses ‘Liked’ Reel Shading Kriti Sanon, Says It Was Accidental!

The CSR Journal Magazine

Actor Yami Gautam Dhar has recently clarified a misunderstanding regarding her social media activity, specifically a “like” on a post that appeared to mock fellow actor Kriti Sanon following her win for Best Actress.

In a statement released on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, Yami asserted that her interaction was accidental and not a conscious endorsement of negative sentiments toward another artist.

Statement on Social Media Interactions

In her response, Yami noted that celebrities are often tagged in numerous posts each day, suggesting that the reel in question emerged during a typical interaction surrounding an award function. She emphasized that her action was neither intentional nor aimed at expressing any disapproval of Kriti’s achievement.

“I have come to know that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We are tagged in multiple things daily, and this appeared during an award function reference like any other tag. It is not true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally,” she explained.

Refutation of PR Tactics

Furthermore, Yami stressed that she has never resorted to inexpensive publicity strategies to garner attention. “Never in my life have I relied on cheap PR tactics. My focus has always been on my work and moving forward,” she stated, urging social media users to consider context before transforming such incidents into gossip.

Context of the Controversy

The controversy arose following Kriti Sanon’s achievement as Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards for her performance in the film “Tere Ishk Mein.” This win prompted discussions across social media platforms, with some users suggesting that Yami deserves recognition for her role in “Haq.” An Instagram video showing Kriti with her award also featured clips from Yami’s earlier interview where she articulated her views on not seeking validation through accolades.

The edited video concluded with the question, “Is it fair?” alluding to Kriti’s award win. Screenshots indicating that Yami had liked the reel circulated rapidly, prompting a debate among users.
