Uttar Pradesh Horror: Wife Plots Husband’s Murder With Her Cousin After He Objects to Their Affair

The CSR Journal Magazine

A disturbing case of betrayal and premeditated murder has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district. A 28-year-old man from Haryana was brutally killed on a highway in Shamli. What initially appeared to be a highway robbery was later exposed as a cold-blooded murder plot.

The plan was orchestrated by the victim’s wife and her lover. The lover involved in the murder is reportedly the victim’s cousin.

The Murder on the Highway

On Thursday morning around 10 AM, Mohammad Shahnawaz, a furniture artisan from Jharagadhi in Sonipat, Haryana, was traveling on a motorcycle with his wife, Maifreen, to attend his brother-in-law’s wedding in Khurgan village, Kairana.

As the couple rode along the National Highway, four men on two motorcycles intercepted them. According to police reports, the assailants rammed into Shahnawaz’s bike, attacked him with sticks, stabbed him multiple times, and shot him at point-blank range before fleeing the scene.

He was rushed to a nearby community health centre, where he was declared dead on arrival. Doctors confirmed three deep stab wounds to his chest, neck, and hand.

Robbery Claim Falls Apart

Initially, Maifreen claimed they were victims of a robbery and that Shahnawaz was murdered when he resisted. His motorcycle and a garland of cash worth ₹1.5 lakh, which he was carrying for the wedding, were also missing, strengthening the suspicion of a highway heist.

However, the narrative began to unravel during the police investigation. Shahnawaz’s bike was soon recovered nearby, and CCTV footage, along with inconsistencies in Maifreen’s statement, led the police to dig deeper.

A Chilling Conspiracy

According to Superintendent of Police Ram Sevak Gautam, investigators discovered that Maifreen was involved in an extramarital affair with Shahnawaz’s cousin, 25-year-old Mohammad Tasavvur, a resident of Bhura village. When Shahnawaz found out about the affair and opposed it, the duo allegedly conspired to eliminate him.

Maifreen had reportedly shared her husband’s travel route and location with Tasavvur. On Thursday, Tasavvur and his accomplices tracked the couple and executed the attack.

In an attempt to divert suspicion, Maifreen filed a false police report, claiming that unknown robbers killed her husband.

Arrests and Ongoing Search

Following swift action, police arrested Tasavvur and one of his associates, Mohammad Suhaib (22), on Thursday night. A country-made pistol, a live cartridge, a knife, and the motorcycle used in the crime were seized.

Maifreen and two others remain at large. “We are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused, including Maifreen. This was a pre-planned murder, cleverly disguised as a robbery,” SP Gautam said.

Victim’s Background and Aftermath

Shahnawaz, known for his craftsmanship in furniture making, had no prior criminal background. His sudden and violent death has left his family in shock and grief. Locals have expressed outrage over the betrayal and brutality of the crime. The case is being closely monitored, and police are confident that all remaining accused will be arrested soon.
