Thirteen Individuals Arrested In Manipur For Sharing And Monetising Sexual Content On Telegram

The CSR Journal Magazine

Thirteen individuals have been apprehended by the Manipur Police for their alleged roles in the circulation, trading, and monetisation of non-consensual explicit content involving Manipuri women. Among those arrested is one Child in Conflict with the Law (CCL). The arrests were made as part of Operation Dignity, initiated following credible information regarding the online distribution and commercial exploitation of such material.

The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) at a police station in Bishnupur district, which has prompted an ongoing investigation aimed at identifying additional individuals involved in this network. Authorities are focused on uncovering the full extent of the operation and the potential number of victims affected.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement has seized fourteen mobile phones and one laptop. These devices are being scrutinised to trace the suspected network, financial transactions, and the possibility of more victims being involved in this disturbing case.

Investigation Progress And Challenges

Investigators are actively working to establish the mechanisms through which the intimate images and videos were obtained and circulated. They are also looking into the administration of the Telegram channels used for this purpose. The police have not disclosed specific details regarding the payment methods allegedly used for monetisation, nor have they revealed the financial amounts involved or the precise roles of each arrested individual.

Further forensic examinations of the seized devices are expected to provide additional leads. However, as of now, the police have not confirmed whether any significant findings have emerged from these analyses. The investigation continues to face challenges in tracing the broader network and identifying all individuals involved in the alleged activities.

The case raises serious concerns regarding the non-consensual sharing of intimate images and the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The police are prioritising these issues as they seek to understand the scale of the operation, including the number of victims and the volume of content that has been circulated.

The Manipur Police have publicly identified the arrested individuals, which include a mix of ages and backgrounds. The list comprises N. Rajesh Singh alias Maipakchao, 21, H. Dhanajit Singh alias Taison, 19, S. Saphaba Singh, 19, Th. Cavendish Singh alias Ingocha, 21, H. Rojit Singh, 19, and M. Clinton Singh, 28, all from Bishnupur district. Other individuals include Kh. As the investigation progresses, police are committed to tracing the wider network associated with these activities. They aim to identify more victims and follow the financial trails linked to the monetisation of the explicit content. The situation continues to develop, and further updates are anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
