UP Man Chased Down Highway By In-Laws, Beaten To Death After Minor Fight With Wife

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking case of family feud has made headlines. A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur was killed by his in-laws after an argument with his wife. The victim was chased down a highway in Uttar Pradesh and brutally beaten by his in-laws. This comes after he fought with his wife, according to police reports.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, has shocked the local community and prompted police to launch an investigation.

Argument Leads to Brutal Attack

According to police reports, Sonu had a dispute with his wife at their residence early Wednesday. Following the argument, the woman contacted her parents and other family members from Bulandshahr, who arrived in Hapur shortly after. The family confronted Sonu and reportedly attacked him.

In an attempt to escape, Sonu ran onto a nearby highway but was pursued by the group. CCTV footage shows several men chasing him, one carrying a stick. Despite bystanders trying to intervene and help, the attackers allegedly threatened and misbehaved with them, then fled the scene.

What Did Victim’s Mother Say

Sonu was found critically injured and taken to a hospital, where he died during treatment. Initial investigations revealed that he had consumed a poisonous substance. However, Sonu’s family claims that the poison was forcibly administered by the wife’s family during the assault.

Speaking to the media, Sonu’s mother, Sukhwiri, expressed her grief and shock. “My son always provided for his wife; he even sold a bigha of land for her. Yet, they took my jewellery and then killed him by forcing poison,” she alleged.

Sonu’s mother, Sukhwiri, said that it is normal for couples to have disagreements. “I don’t know the reason behind the argument,” she added.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Following a complaint from Sonu’s family, the police have registered a case against seven members of the wife’s family, including the woman herself. All accused are currently absconding, and the police have intensified their search to apprehend them.

Station House Officer Anita Chauhan of Pilkhuwa police station stated that the investigation is ongoing. “Preliminary reports suggest Sonu ingested poison. We will take strict legal action after the investigation is complete,” she said. “The investigation is under way, and legal action will be taken accordingly,” Chauhan added.

The incident has sparked public outrage in the area, with many questioning how such a violent assault could occur openly on a highway without immediate intervention. Authorities have assured the community and the victim’s family that justice will be pursued.
