Tragic Accident Claims Life of Rodeo Champion Kelsie Domer’s Daughter Oaklynn

The CSR Journal Magazine

Rodeo champion Kelsie Domer experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of her three-year-old daughter, Oaklynn. The incident occurred on February 19 during a horse-related activity. According to an obituary from Lanman Funeral Home, Kelsie was leading one of their horses while holding Oaklynn when the horse suffered a medical issue, leading to a tragic accident in which the animal fell on both of them. Despite efforts to save her, Oaklynn succumbed to her injuries, leaving Kelsie to grapple with this devastating reality.

Community Grieves and Pays Tribute

The news of Oaklynn’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the rodeo community. Fellow rodeo participants, friends, and supporters have expressed their condolences and shared tributes for the young girl. Kelsie and her husband, Ryan Domer, have received an outpouring of support from those who knew them and were familiar with their family life as they traveled on the rodeo circuit with Oaklynn.

Details of Oaklynn’s Life Celebrated

In the obituary, Oaklynn’s life was commemorated, highlighting her joyful spirit. “Oaklynn packed a lot in her short time with us,” it stated, noting her adventures across the U.S. rodeo circuit, enjoying time at practice sessions with her parents, and her unconditional love for family. She was fond of frogs, horses, and puppies, and had a natural ability to light up a room with her presence.

A Collective Mourning in the Rodeo Circuit

Following the accident, the company Simply Equine & K9, where Kelsie has been a member for four years, expressed their sorrow on social media. They stated, “Our hearts are shattered beyond words,” as they prayed for the Domer family and honored Oaklynn’s memory. On February 20, breakaway ropers in San Antonio participated in a tribute by wearing pink, which Kelsie mentioned her daughter would have loved. This gesture was part of a wider show of support from the rodeo community as they commemorated the young girl.

Personal Tributes Shared by Friends and Fellow Competitors

The rodeo circle has united in tribute events, including sharing pink flowers and messages dedicated to Oaklynn. Taormino Performance Horses posted a video of a rider placing bright pink flowers in a saddle, emphasizing the bond Oaklynn shared with the rodeo family. Fellow breakaway roper Haley Sage Wright also contributed to the tribute, remembering Oaklynn as the “toughest little cowgirl” who touched many lives during her brief time on earth.
