Tamil Actor Abhinay Dies at 44; Film Union to Perform Last Rites as He Had No Family

The CSR Journal Magazine

Tamil actor Abhinay, who rose to fame in the year 2002 with the film Thulluvadho Ilamai, passed away after long battling with liver-related problems on Monday, aged 44. For several years, the actor battled a prolonged liver-related illness. His death has shaken the industry, leaving fans mourning the loss of a talented artist who didn’t get his due recognition.

Actor Abhinay battled with liver disease

Abhinay was very well aware of his health condition as doctors had given him a grim prognosis and predicted the time left with him. He had even shared a video where he openly spoke about it. The actor said, “I do not know if I will be around for longer. Doctors told me I might live for another year and a half.”
With medical expenses mounting, Abhinay had asked for financial assistance from many of his co-stars and even the public.

Actor Dhanush contributed Rs 5 lakh

After he made the appeal, many co-stars from the Tamil film fraternity extended help. Actor Dhanush, and Abhinay shared space in Thulluvadho Ilamai, contributed Rs 5 lakh towards his treatment. Comedian KPY Bala donated Rs 1 lakh and also created awareness to raise more funds.

Even though Abhinay was facing severe health issues, he continued to remain connected with the film industry. A few days ago, he appeared at a film press meet; though he appeared frail, he was hopeful he would recover.

Abhinay was the voice of  Thuppakki

Abhinay was a versatile actor. He debuted next to Dhanush in Thulluvadho Ilamai, a film that was a debut for Dhanush as well. He appeared in more than fifteen films across many South Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Besides acting, he was part of many advertisements and was a dubbing artist for many projects.

One of his most recognised works as a voice artist was in the 2012 Tamil blockbuster Thuppakki, directed by AR Murugadoss and starring Thalapathy Vijay, where he lent his voice to Vidyut Jammwal.

Abhinay’s Last Rites and Legacy

His body is kept at his Chennai residence, but there aren’t any close family members to perform the last rites. With no close family members, Nadigar Sangam (a South Indian Film Union) representative is making his funeral arrangements. Abhinay was the son of veteran actress T.P. Radhamani, who died due to cancer in 2019. It was after his mother’s death that Abhinay reportedly faced severe financial and health challenges. He wasn’t married and neither had a child, so there is no one to do his last rites.

The news of his passing has shattered the industry and fans, who remember him for his dedication, sincerity, and humility.
