Smriti Mandhana, vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, has successfully retained her position as the second-ranked batter in the latest ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings, which were published on Tuesday. This marks a continuation of her strong performance in the shortest format of the game. Mandhana remains the highest-ranked Indian player in T20Is, with her teammate Shafali Verma holding steady at sixth place within the top ten rankings. Jemimah Rodrigues is also in contention, maintaining her joint 11th position just outside the elite list.

Harmanpreet Kaur Sees Notable Progress

On the other hand, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian side, has made substantial progress, rising to the 14th position. This movement reflects positive signs for the Indian women’s team as they prepare for upcoming challenges. Bowling Rankings Update

In the bowling segment, Deepti Sharma has climbed one position to secure the third rank in the bowlers’ category. The off-spin all-rounder also maintains her third rank among all-rounders. Georgia Voll of Australia has made her entrance into the top ten of the batting rankings for the first time. Another noteworthy mention is New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, who climbed to the 18th position after a series of back-to-back half-centuries against South Africa. Additionally, Rwanda’s Fanny Utagushimaninde has made history by debuting at the 66th position; she is the first female cricketer to score a century on her T20I debut and the youngest player in both men’s and women’s cricket to achieve this remarkable feat.

Among the emerging talents, South Africa’s Annerie Dercksen, who was recognized as the ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2024, experienced a significant rise, jumping 18 places to reach 55th after scoring an unbeaten 55 against New Zealand. Veteran player Ellyse Perry from Australia improved her standing, moving up to the 20th spot, while West Indies’ Qiana Joseph made strides as well, advancing to 33rd. Other players like Maddy Green and Stafanie Taylor have also experienced notable gains in their rankings.

Improvements in Bowling Standings

In terms of bowling rankings, Nonkululeko Mlaba, a left-arm spinner from South Africa, has entered the top ten, securing the ninth position following an impressive series. Georgia Wareham of Australia made advancements as well, rising to the 12th spot. New Zealand’s Jess Kerr has achieved a career-best ranking of 15th after a strong performance against South Africa. Both Ayabonga Khaka and Kim Garth recorded significant increases in the latest rankings update.
