A consumer court case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala has encountered procedural hurdles due to issues with key documents. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Jaipur returned the documents citing technical deficiencies, which hindered the possibility of verifying the actor’s signatures. As a result, the District Consumer Court in Kota, Rajasthan, has ordered the necessary corrections to be made before the documents can be resubmitted for forensic analysis.

The FSL, which had received the documents from the court for signature verification, reported on April 8 that the submissions did not meet the criteria needed for a scientific evaluation. Advocate Rakesh Suwalka, representing Rajshree Pan Masala, informed the court that without rectifying these deficiencies, no forensic examination could take place.

In light of these circumstances, the Kota court mandated that the discrepancies must be addressed before the documents are re-sent to the state forensic laboratory. The next hearing is scheduled for April 21, during which the court will review the amendments made to the documents.

Affidavit Submitted by Complainant

At the recent court proceedings, Indramohan Singh Honey, the complainant and a senior BJP leader, submitted an affidavit. Honey expressed confidence that the court’s directive to rectify the documents would assist in asserting the authenticity of the signatures in question. This case primarily revolves around allegations that the advertisements featuring Salman Khan are misleading, which could significantly impact young audiences.

The controversy regarding the signatures emerged on December 26, when Honey voiced suspicions regarding the validity of the signatures on the documents presented to the court. Following this, the District Consumer Court instructed a scientific analysis of the signatures, stating that the concerned parties must appear in person and provide a sworn affidavit.

This order eventually led to an appeal to the State Consumer Commission in Jaipur, where an interim stay on the examination process was granted. However, after recent discussions involving both parties, the Commission lifted the stay and reaffirmed the original order issued by the lower court.

Allegations Against Rajshree Pan Masala

The ongoing case is focused on accusations directed at Rajshree Pan Masala regarding potentially deceptive advertisements that feature Bollywood star Salman Khan. The complainant, Honey, has raised critical questions about the honesty of the advertising claims made by the company. He contends that such endorsements should be scrutinised, particularly due to their influence on younger consumers.

The situation continues to unfold as both legal representatives grapple with the complicated issues surrounding the documentation and the signatures. It remains to be seen how the case will develop following the court’s direction for document revisions and the upcoming hearing date.
