The University of Mumbai has announced that from the 2026-27 academic year, students must possess an APAAR ID in order to obtain their examination hall tickets. The APAAR ID, which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is a unique twelve-digit identifier assigned to students. It is designed to digitally link and maintain their academic records.

This new requirement was established after extensive discussions and approvals from the university’s Board of Examinations and Evaluation, as well as the Management and Academic Councils. Students who fail to provide their APAAR ID will reportedly be unable to access their hall tickets, potentially hindering their ability to sit for examinations.

The university emphasised that this move intends to streamline the examination process, ensuring that all student records are accurately compiled and managed through the new digital system.

Facilitation Camp for Students

In light of the new requirements, Mumbai University has organised a special Aadhaar facilitation camp aimed at students who are experiencing difficulties with the creation of their APAAR ID. The camp is scheduled for August 19 and 20, 2026, and is intended to assist those who face challenges linking their IDs or authenticating with their Aadhaar details.

The official communication from the university underscores the importance of this service and encourages students who have not yet obtained their APAAR ID to take advantage of the assistance offered. Students are advised to bring their Aadhaar cards and any other pertinent documents to aid university officials in resolving their issues promptly.

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to support students during this transitional phase and to facilitate a smoother examination experience for all candidates.

Early Reporting Requirement for Examination Attendance

According to the new examination protocol, all students are required to report to the examination hall at least thirty minutes prior to the beginning of their scheduled tests. For example, if an examination is set to commence at 10:30 am, students must be inside the examination venue by 10 am.

This advance reporting is intended to provide adequate time for identity verification, seating arrangements, and other necessary examination procedures. The university has instructed the principals, directors, and heads of departments of affiliated colleges to communicate this stipulation to both students and staff to ensure everyone is informed.

The university has advised students to plan their travel accordingly to avoid any last-minute rush or delays, which could lead to complications. The advance reporting policy aims to enhance the overall examination process and ensure that everything proceeds without interruption or hindrances.

By establishing these new examination rules, Mumbai University aims to create a more organised and efficient testing environment that benefits both students and the administration alike.
