Here a woman, with the help of her lover, has been accused of brutally murdering her 50-year-old husband.
The victim, Shankaramurthy’s body was disposed of nearly 30 kilometers away from their village home. The chilling crime took place on June 24 in Tiptur taluk. The shocking murder reportedly was driven by an illicit affair.
A Love Triangle Turns Deadly
The victim, Shankaramurthy, was reportedly living alone in a farmhouse for work. During this period his wife, Sumangala, conspired with her alleged lover, Nagaraju from Karadalusante village. Sumangala is a cook at the Kalpataru College Girls’ Hostel in Tiptur. Meanwhile, Police investigations suggest their affair had intensified. This led them to believe Shankaramurthy was an obstacle to their relationship and they needed to eliminate him.
Horrific Details Emerge
According to police, the murder was exceptionally brutal.Victim’s wife Sumangala allegedly attacked her husband by throwing chili powder into his eyes. She then severely beat him with a wooden stick along with her lover. The assault culminated in her crushing his neck with her foot, leading to his death.
Following the heinous act, the duo allegedly stuffed Shankaramurthy’s body into a gunny bag. They transported it approximately 30 kilometers away, dumping it in a well located in a plantation. This area comes under the Dandanishivara Police Station limits in Turuvekere taluk.
Disappearance Raises Suspicions
However the crime came to light after Shankaramurthy was reported missing. Nonavinakere Police, who initially registered a missing persons complaint, quickly grew suspicious. Their investigation at the farmhouse revealed tell-tale signs of a struggle. This includes chili powder stains and disturbances on the victim’s bedding. These initial findings by the police prompted a deeper inquiry into the matter.
Further investigation, including a crucial analysis of Sumangala’s call detail records, began to unravel the gruesome plot. Interrogation of Sumangala reportedly led to her confession, confirming her involvement. The motive, Shankaramurthy’s opposition to her alleged illicit relationship with Nagaraju.
Police have registered a case at the Nonavinakere Police Station, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to bring all those involved to justice. This incident serves as a grim reminder of similar cases of betrayal and murder that have recently surfaced across the country.
