This advisory, released on August 7, is particularly focused on predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with isolated instances of extreme rainfall, which is expected to hit Odisha. The alert will be in effect until 8:30 AM IST on August 8, prompting residents and local authorities to stay vigilant, as intensive monsoon activity is forecasted to persist.

Impact on Odisha and Other States

Odisha is anticipated to experience the most intense weather conditions, with forecasts indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall, alongside limited occurrences of extremely heavy precipitation. In addition to Odisha, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in specific areas of Coastal Karnataka, East Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Keralam, and South Interior Karnataka in the coming 24 hours. Affected states include the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, East Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Lakshadweep, Madhya Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Uttarakhand, and West Madhya Pradesh, where heavy rainfall could disrupt daily activities.

IMD’s Weather Monitoring Enhancements
