The Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their outstanding form in the IPL 2025 with a 58-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, yesterday. This win marked their fourth consecutive victory, propelling them to the top of the points table.
Batting first after RR opted to bowl, GT posted a formidable total of 217/6, led by Sai Sudharsan’s thrilling knock of 82 runs off 53 balls. The Titans’ innings was reinforced by impactful contributions from Jos Buttler (36 off 25) and Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20), alongside late fireworks from Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan. In response, RR faltered under GT’s bowling attack, managing only 159 runs before being bowled out in 19.2 overs.
Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna Steal the Show
The match began with RR skipper Sanju Samson electing to field first, a decision that seemed promising as Jofra Archer delivered an impressive opening spell, dismissing GT captain Shubman Gill early. However, Sai Sudharsan weathered the storm and shifted gears with a flurry of boundaries, bringing up his third fifty of the season in just 32 balls. His composed yet aggressive innings laid the foundation for GT’s imposing total.
Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan added valuable runs in the middle overs, while Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan ensured a strong finish with quick appearances. GT amassed 54 runs in the last four overs, leaving RR with a daunting chase.
RR’s pursuit began on a shaky note as Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan struck early to remove Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana cheaply. Despite some resistance from Sanju Samson (41 off 28) and Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 32), RR struggled to maintain momentum. Prasidh Krishna emerged as GT’s bowling hero with figures of 3/24, supported by Rashid Khan’s two wickets.
The required run rate kept escalating, and wickets fell at regular intervals, sealing RR’s fate. Hetmyer’s valiant effort ended when he was caught off Krishna, leaving RR well short of their target.
This victory solidifies Gujarat Titans’ position as one of the strongest contenders this season. With Sai Sudharsan continuing his remarkable form and Prasidh Krishna leading an effective bowling unit, GT appear unstoppable at this stage of the tournament.
