Delhi Metro Announces Early Start at 3 AM for Marathon Event on April 5

The CSR Journal Magazine

Commuters in Delhi-NCR will benefit from early metro services on April 5, 2026, when the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation initiates operations at 3:00 AM. This adjustment is specifically designed to accommodate participants of the PNB Soldierathon Marathon, which will take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The metro trains will run at 30-minute intervals until 6:00 AM, after which the regular Sunday service schedule will resume. This extended operating time aims to facilitate easier access for those travelling to the marathon.

Routes Affected by Early Services

The early services will operate across several significant lines in the metro network. For instance, the Yellow Line will connect commuters from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre in Gurugram. Meanwhile, the Blue Line will link Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City and Vaishali.

Additionally, the Violet Line will service the route from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh. These routes are strategically chosen to ensure that a large number of marathon participants can efficiently reach the event venue.

Regular metro services on all other lines will follow the standard Sunday timetable without changes, thus preserving normal operations for commuters not attending the marathon.

Impact on Commuters and Traffic Management

The early start of metro services is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the day of the marathon. With thousands of runners anticipated to participate, the initiative provides a more efficient transportation option, promoting the use of public transport during large-scale events.

Travellers planning to utilise the early services are advised to verify line-specific availability and timings ahead of their journey. While primarily aimed at marathon attendees, this extended service period also grants regular commuters the opportunity to benefit from additional travel hours on selected routes.

As the Delhi Metro enhances its services in response to significant events, the organisation emphasizes its commitment to maintaining seamless connectivity for the city’s residents. This early start exemplifies proactive measures taken to support large events while ensuring convenient travel options for all passengers.
