CSR News: University of Hyderabad gets Rs 5 crore CSR grant from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has donated Rs 5 crore to the University of Hyderabad for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Digital Twin Technology. This initiative is aimed to promote advanced technological research with national relevance.

The CSR fund will be used to establish a comprehensive research infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art digital twin research lab, training lab for hands-on skill development, and fully furnished auditorium to facilitate training programmes and workshops for upskilling students and researchers in digital twin technologies.

The proposal was conceptualized by Prof. Samrat Sabat and Prof. Siba Udgata with contributions from Prof. M Ghanashyam Krishna. Prof. Sabat will lead the implementation of the project at the AI research Cluster under the IoE Interdisciplinary Centre.

“We are thankful to HAL for this generous support to strengthen the research and teaching at University of Hyderabad. The upcoming Centre of Excellence will serve as a national resource for innovation and human resource development in digital twin technology. Congratulations to Prof. Samrat Sabat, Prof. Siba K Udgata and Prof. M. Ghansyam Krishna for their effort and accomplishment,” said Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Hyderabad University.

The Centre is envisioned to promote cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and capacity building in digital twin systems, which are increasingly crucial to sectors like aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure.
