The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), VS Pandey, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of three personnel in a road accident in Dhamtari district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred on Saturday when the CRPF jawans were traveling from Jagdalpur to Raipur. Pandey confirmed that one individual is currently hospitalized for injuries sustained during the accident.

Pandey described the day as heart-wrenching, stating, “Today, three jawans of our 201 CoBRA battalion died. They had set out from Jagdalpur and met with an accident in Dhamtari. One personnel is injured and is being provided medical treatment.” The DG shared these comments during a conversation with reporters shortly after the incident was reported.

On the afternoon of the accident, at least four people were confirmed dead, including the three CRPF jawans and the driver of another vehicle involved in the collision. The crash took place near Bypass Khapri, a location that has drawn local attention due to the severity of the incident. Civil Surgeon Abhishek Tonder provided additional details about the accident, indicating that two individuals died at the scene while two others succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The injured personnel remains under medical care as treatment efforts continue. Tonder remarked, “We got information that CRPF jawans were going from Jagdalpur to Raipur. On Khapri road near Dhamtari, their vehicle collided with a car. Two people died on the spot, and two died on the way to the hospital. A total of four people died. One person is injured and is currently being treated in the hospital.”
