Beyond the Usual Harvest: Yuvraj’s Experiment with Promise

For three decades, Yuvraj Aatmaram Patil of Padloshi village has been a dedicated paddy farmer. But in recent years, pests like stem borers and diseases such as brown spot and leaf scald began cutting into his yields, making farming more challenging with each season.

That’s when Reliance Foundation stepped in, connecting Yuvraj to the Agriculture Research Station at Radhanagari. There, he discovered RDN 20-08-a new rice variety specially developed for his region and built to resist the very pests and diseases troubling his fields.

Given a small trial batch alongside Phule Samruddhi, Yuvraj planted both varieties on equal-sized patches of land, sticking to his usual farming routine. This season, with generous rains, RDN 20-08 stood out-lush, green, and completely pest-free.

Though it’s early, Yuvraj is optimistic about the harvest. This variety could mean fewer inputs, lower costs, and bigger harvests. Inspired, he’s eager to share the seeds with fellow farmers, hoping to spark a greener, stronger future for his community.
