Cockroach Janta Party Founder Abhijeet Dipke Writes to PM Modi Urging to Dismiss Education Minister

The CSR Journal Magazine

The founder of the youth-led organisation, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Abhijeet Dipke, has made a formal appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to grant Rs 1 crore in compensation to families of students who allegedly died by suicide due to examination controversies. This request comes just prior to a planned protest by the CJP at Jantar Mantar on June 20, aimed at intensifying their campaign against purported irregularities in examinations. He also reiterated the organisation’s demand to sack Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling for accountability.

In his correspondence, Dipke emphasised the dire situation, claiming that 11 students had tragically taken their own lives in recent weeks, with five deaths occurring within a mere 48 hours. He articulated concerns regarding the increasing pressure faced by students amid uncertainties surrounding potential re-examinations. The letter underlines the emotional and financial toll on affected families, many of whom had accrued significant educational loans to support their children’s futures.

Dipke highlighted the plight of these families, describing them as “entirely destitute” following the loss of their children, for whom they had invested their life savings in education. He argued for immediate financial aid to mitigate their suffering, linking the tragedies to what he terms a “compounding crisis of paper leaks” that has plagued the educational system.

Call for Accountability and Minister’s Resignation

Furthermore, Dipke reiterated the organisation’s longstanding demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He asserted that accountability is essential for restoring trust among students and parents in the education framework. By stating that students are calling for responsibility, he communicated the urgency of the situation and the need for a systematic approach to address these issues.

The CJP has reportedly been vocal about their demands over the past month, engaging in protests nationwide. Dipke noted that it is paramount for the government to acknowledge its failures in the educational sector and take decisive action, including the removal of Pradhan. He contended that such a step would reflect a commitment to accountability rather than an admission of weakness, particularly as inaction may aggravate the sentiments of hopelessness amongst students and their families.

In his message, Dipke stressed the necessity for immediate interventions that prioritise students’ mental health and safety, insisting that comprehensive reforms are required to prevent future tragedies stemming from academic pressures. He expressed a commitment to see change and stated that the upcoming protests at Jantar Mantar would serve as a significant platform for such demands.

Upcoming Protest Developments

The proposed protest on June 20 marks the CJP’s second assembly at Jantar Mantar this month. Their first mobilization on June 6 witnessed hundreds of students and young professionals demanding Pradhan’s resignation due to allegations of examination irregularities and paper leaks. Following the initial demonstration, the movement expanded to various cities across India, reinforcing the core message related to educational accountability.

Dipke’s firm stance signals a broader call for governmental reform in the education sector, as he implores the administration to heed the voices of the youth. The CJP aims to rally support from students nationwide, asserting that the government must actively listen to “the voice of India’s future” to instil hope and facilitate necessary change in the educational landscape.

Through their intensified mobilisation efforts, the Cockroach Janta Party seeks to catalyse necessary transformations within the educational framework, addressing critical concerns that have elicited distress among students and their families across the country.
