A shocking incident has come to light from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district. A pall of mystery hangs over the death of a 50-year-old woman. The woman is identified as Sheeja, whose charred remains were discovered at a vacant site in Kaimanam. The body was found late on Thursday night in Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the discovery of the body was made by Local residents who were jolted by a scream. Upon inspection they stumbled upon the gruesome scene and promptly alerted the Karamana police station.
Body Identified, Family Alleges Foul Play
According to reports the deceased was identified by her relative, Suresh. Suresh has voiced strong suspicions of foul play in Sheeja’s death. While speaking to the media, he revealed that Sheeja is a native of Karumam. He further revealed that she had been in a relationship with a man named Saji Kumar, a friend of hers.
Suresh also stated that Sheeja’s family had disapproved of this relationship. This led to a strained dynamic between the couple leading to arguments. Meanwhile, the discovery of Sheeja’s charred body near Saji’s residence has further fueled the family’s doubts.
“There is something mysterious about her death. If she wanted to kill herself, she would have done it earlier. The body was found close to the house of Saji. We came to know that there were some issues between Sheeja and Saji,” said Suresh. He urged a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police Investigate Suicide Angle, Search for Partner
Following the revelations, the police begin the preliminary investigation. The probe so far suggest a possible case of suicide. However, the police have not ruled out other possibilities related to Sheeja’s death. Karamana police station officer confirmed the discovery of the charred body following a search of the area. He stated that the body was found after the residents reported hearing a scream.
Doubts and suspicion
Another layer of mystery has been added to the case, Saji Kumar has gone missing. The alleged man Sheeja has been in a relationship with, has been untraceable since Thursday. According to reports, he left his house claiming to be going to work. Police have launched a search to locate him as part of their investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain whether this was a case of murder or suicide. The deceased’s body will undergo a postmortem examination following the completion of inquest proceedings, which are crucial in gathering initial evidence and understanding the circumstances of death.
Echoes of Past Incidents
The recent incident brings to mind similar cases in Kerala and neighboring states. In February, a couple was found dead in their Alappuzha home. The couple’s son was taken into custody on suspicion of arson. This allegedly stemmed from property disputes.
Similarly, in Telangana last January, a woman’s severely burnt body was discovered. The police suspect she was murdered elsewhere and her body disposed of at the scene.
