Rapper Cardi B has publicly threatened to pursue legal action against Alex Bruesewitz, a political adviser associated with former US President Donald Trump, after he accused her of being linked to a controversial social media “bot” campaign involving fellow artist Nicki Minaj.
The dispute stems from a recent report that found large‑scale automated activity around Minaj’s political posts on the platform X (formerly Twitter), and Bruesewitz’s comments drawing Cardi B into the controversy.
Bot Report Spurs Controversy
A report shared with Politico and compiled by disinformation analysis firm Cyabra claims that thousands of fake accounts, over 18,000, were amplifying Nicki Minaj’s political posts on X between November and December 2025.
The analysis found that roughly one‑third of accounts interacting with her political content were likely bot accounts, a rate far higher than typical social media activity. Cyabra said its findings suggested coordinated inauthentic activity aimed at boosting Minaj’s online presence.
Minaj has recently taken on a more visible conservative political profile, appearing at events alongside prominent right‑wing figures and speaking on political issues, moves that drew heightened scrutiny.
Cardi B Denies Involvement
Cardi B quickly dismissed Bruesewitz’s claims linking her to the Cyabra report, saying she has no affiliation with the data firm or the bot investigation and demanding proof of any connection. She repeatedly denied any involvement or relationship between her team (including label Roc Nation) and the report, calling the suggestion “ridiculous” and defamatory.
In a now‑deleted post on X, Cardi wrote that she has no ties to the journalist who shared the report or to any party that worked on the case and threatened to sue Bruesewitz, saying: “The fact that you work for the government and defaming my name with false allegations… I’m going to f*cking sue you.”
Bruesewitz, however, stood by his comments, later asserting that Cardi removed her response after he presented evidence that her representative is involved with the company linked to the bot report, a claim Cardi disputes.
Political and Cultural Fallout
The exchange has drawn attention both for its legal implications and its reflection of ongoing tensions in hip‑hop culture. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have had a well‑documented feud spanning several years, rooted in personal and professional rivalry.
Bruesewitz and other Trump allies have publicly defended Minaj and questioned the bot findings, while critics of the Cyabra analysis argue the methodology may be flawed or biased, partly because certain industry figures connected to Roc Nation and Cardi B sit on advisory councils related to the data firm.
What Comes Next
At this stage, Cardi B’s threat to pursue legal action remains just that, a threat, and no lawsuit has yet been filed. The dispute highlights how political reporting, social media data analyses, and celebrity feuds can collide, creating complex battles over reputation, influence, and online narratives.
