In the wake of India’s pre-dawn missile assault on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor, Himanshi Narwal, the wife of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal whowas killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, called the strike a “fitting response” to the brutal killing of 26 Indians.
Reflecting on the events of that tragic day, Himanshi recounted the desperate moments she lived through. “I begged the attackers to let us go. I told them we were just married six days ago. Their response was chilling‘Ask Modi for mercy.’ Today, they have received that answer from Modi ji and our brave soldiers,” she shared with the media.
The widow, who previously drew criticism for her public appeal for unity and compassion following her husband’s death, clarified that her comments were widely misinterpreted. “I was deeply hurt by how my intentions were twisted. I stood there in Pahalgam, not just as a grieving wife, but alongside 26 other women who had just lost everything. I hoped that our government and Army would recognise our pain and today, they have,” she said, her voice steady but emotional.
Himanshi Shares the Feeling of Sorrow and Pride
Describing her emotional state after the operation, Himanshi admitted to feeling both sorrow and pride. “Vinay and 26 others will never come back. But knowing that justice has been delivered in some form brings us some peace. This strike has restored the pride of every Indian.”
India’s armed forces launched precision missile attacks on nine identified terror hubs across Pakistan and PoK, including the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s stronghold in Muridke. The retaliatory move came as a direct response to the Pahalgam ambush, which had stunned the nation with its scale and brutality.
According to Indian defence officials, the strikes were meticulously planned to target only terror-linked sites, and were executed late at night to minimise harm to civilians. The operation was designed not only to neutralise key militant infrastructure but also to send a strong deterrent signal to terror sponsors across the border.

25 मिनट चला ऑपरेशन
बता दें कि भारत की सेना ने मंगलवार-बुधवार की रात ‘ऑपरेशन सिंदूर’ के तहत पाकिस्तान स्थित आतंकियों के 9 ठिकानों को बर्बाद कर दिया। वायुसेना की विंग कमांडर व्योमिका सिंह ने प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में बताया, “मंगलवार-बुधवार देर रात 1 बजकर 5 मिनट से 1 बजकर 30 मिनट के बीच ये हमला किया गया था। पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के पीड़ितों और उनके परिवारों को न्याय दिलाने के लिए भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों ने ‘ऑपरेशन सिंदूर’ लॉन्च किया। नौ आतंकवादी कैंप को निशाना बनाया गया और उन्हें सफलतापूर्वक नष्ट कर दिया गया.”
9 ठिकानों को किया टारगेट
प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस के दौरान एयर स्ट्राइक से जुड़ी एक क्लिप भी दिखाई गई, जिसमें बताया गया कि इस ऑपरेशन के दौरान 9 टारगेट चुने गए थे। इस स्ट्राइक में लॉन्च पैड, ट्रेनिंग सेंटर को टारगेट कर तबाह कर दिया गया।

Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar has acknowledged the deaths of 14 individuals—10 of them his own relatives during India’s overnight airstrikes carried out under Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The revelation comes via a statement cited by news agency PTI, marking the first public response from the UN-designated terrorist following the targetted bombing of JeM’s strongholds.
Azhar’s statement named the casualties from the strike on JeM’s headquarters Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Pakistan including his elder sister, her husband, a nephew and his wife, a niece, and five children from his extended family. He also claimed that four of his close associates perished in the assault. Referring to the deceased as “guests of Allah,” Azhar expressed no remorse, stating, “Ten members of my family were blessed with this happiness together tonight.”
What Masood Azhar Further Said
He added, “My beloved scholar Fazilah (niece), my respected scholar nephew and his wife, my brother Huzaifah and his mother are among them. Two more dear companions have also attained martyrdom.” Despite the personal loss, Azhar said he felt no sorrow or despair, and instead wished he had joined “this fourteen-member happy caravan.” He has reportedly invited followers to participate in funeral prayers for the deceased.
The Indian military launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday, firing 24 precision-guided missiles at nine verified terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to Indian defense sources, the strikes resulted in the deaths of over 70 militants and injured more than 60 others. The attacks were said to be in direct response to the Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 civilians were killed.
Officials in New Delhi emphasised that while civilian casualties were deeply regrettable, the operation was executed with significant care to avoid them. “All targets were selected based on confirmed intelligence and were directly linked to terror networks. Strikes were conducted late at night when civilian presence would be minimal,” a government official explained.
Precision Strikes Minimise Civilian Harm Amid Urban Terror Targets
India’s use of precision-guided munitions and focused targeting was credited for minimising collateral damage, despite the challenges of conducting military operations against groups embedded within densely populated urban areas. “This kind of asymmetric warfare often sees militants using civilian structures as shields, complicating the effort to avoid non-combatant casualties entirely,” the source said.
In contrast, Indian officials accused Pakistan of attempting to exaggerate civilian harm in an effort to sway global opinion. During a post-operation briefing, the Indian defence establishment presented imagery to illustrate that the damage was restricted to terror facilities. “The international community must understand that India exercised remarkable restraint,” a senior defence official stated.
Masood Azhar, 56, remains a fugitive wanted for orchestrating several major terror attacks in India, including the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai siege, the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack, and the 2019 Pulwama bombing. Although he is widely believed to reside in Pakistan, the Pakistani government continues to deny any knowledge of his whereabouts.

Typically, the Nifty 50 experiences a maximum drawdown of about 5%, with the average rarely exceeding this mark. However, these dips have been short-lived, and the indices have consistently delivered double-digit returns within six months of the event.
For example, after the Kargil War, the Nifty surged 16.5% in just one month and nearly 30% over the next year. The 26/11 Mumbai attacks, despite their severity, were followed by an 82% rally in the subsequent 12 months. Even the Pulwama-Balakot episode saw the Nifty rise 6.3% within a month and 12.7% over a year. The only major exception was the 2001 Parliament attack, where the Nifty fell 13.9%, but this period also coincided with a global market downturn, especially in the US.
Strong Macroeconomic Fundamentals
Analysts attribute this resilience to several factors. First, India’s macroeconomic fundamentals remain robust, supported by steady foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows, which have totalled nearly ₹44,000 crore in the last fortnight alone. Domestic mutual funds also have ample liquidity, and retail investors have become more mature, focusing on long-term prospects rather than knee-jerk reactions. Additionally, the current operation was seen as “focused and non-escalatory,” reducing the risk of a broader conflict that could disrupt the economy.
Global factors, such as a weaker dollar, subdued growth in the US and China, and lower crude oil prices, have further cushioned Indian markets. As a result, the market’s attention remains on core economic indicators and capital flows rather than short-term political noise.
Market experts caution that only a significant escalation – such as a full-scale war, international sanctions, or major economic disruption – could trigger a deeper and more prolonged correction. Otherwise, historical patterns suggest that such events are often buying opportunities rather than reasons to exit the market.
In summary, Operation Sindoor has reinforced the Indian market’s reputation for resilience in the face of geopolitical shocks. While volatility may persist in the short term, the experience of past India-Pakistan tensions suggests that Nifty and Sensex are unlikely to be hit too much, and investors who remain patient are often rewarded with strong medium- to long-term gains.

It is as if to avenge the removal of that vermilion or sindoor from the forehead of its daughters, India launched “Operation Sindoor” early on May 7, Wednesday. In a series of precision strikes carried out overnight early on Wednesday to nine targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) Indian Army reportedly left over 80 terrorists dead. The strikes were named ‘ Operation Sindoor’, the red vermilion traditionally worn by married Hindu women.
Pallavi Rao was on vacation with her husband Manjunath Rao and son Abhijay, when she witnessed her husband being shot in the head while buying snacks for their son.
“We are not killing you, go inform Modi,” was a statement given by one of the terrorists to Pallavi, the wife of Manjunath, a resident of Karnataka’s Shivamogga minutes after shooting the latter dead right in front of her eyes. According to Pallavi, the attackers seemed to be targeting only the Hindus.
“Three to four people attacked us. I told them – kill me too, you’ve already killed my husband. One of them said, ‘I won’t kill you. Go tell this to Modi’,” Pallavi had recounted.
Befitting reply: Pragati Jagdale
“It’s a befitting reply after the way those terrorists erased the vermilion of our daughters. On hearing the name of this operation, I got tears in my eyes. I sincerely thank the government. Modi ji has shown Pakistan that we will not sit quietly. I feel, with Operation Sindoor, PM Modi will end terrorism,” Pragati Jagdale, widow of Santosh Jagdale told news agency ANI.

Reacting to the name Operation Sindoor, Asavari Jagdale, daughter of Pune’s Santosh Jagdale who was killed in front of her eyes, said, “I cried a lot hearing the name of the operation. It is a real tribute and justice to those who were killed by terrorists.” Her father, Santosh Jagdale, 54, was asked to recite an Islamic verse by terrorists, and when he failed, they shot him thrice in the head, behind the ear, and back.

“I thank the government for taking revenge for my husband’s death. This is the beginning of revenge. I know that Modi ji won’t stop till he wipes them (terrorists) off completely. He has given us this much belief that all the terror spots will be destroyed. By naming this strike as ‘Operation Sindoor’, he has shown that we have taken the revenge being sought by us,” Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who was shot dead in the Pahalgam terror attack, told PTI.

Sangita Ganbote, wife of Kaustubh Ganbote who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, told ANI, “The action taken by the military is good, and by naming it as Operation Sindoor, they have respected the women. I still cry some days. We were waiting for PM Modi to take such action, and he has given them a befitting reply. Terrorists should be eliminated.”
Pahalgam massacre: Women whose husbands were shot dead by terrorists
Many others were also left widowed in the terrorist attacks of April 22 in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Himanshi Narwal, just 24, had been married for six days when her husband Vinay Narwal, a Navy officer, was gunned down during their honeymoon.
Shital Kalathiya lost her husband Shailesh while on holiday with their two children. Sohini Adhikari witnessed her husband Bitan Adhikari being shot in front of their three-year-old son.
Kajalben Parmar saw her husband Yatishbhai killed. Sheela Ramachandran who was in Kochi due to ill health, was informed on April 22 that her husband N Ramachandran had been killed in front of their grandchildren.
Jennifer Nathaniel watched her husband Sushil die shielding her, and Jaya Mishra saw her husband Manish Ranjan Mishra, an IB officer, being gunned down in front of their children.

“Hum sab ke liye garv ka pal hai” (A moment of Pride for all of us) – This is how Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Indian Army’s “Operation Sindoor” which was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday in targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attacks of April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
On Wednesday, PM Modi chaired a Cabinet meeting where he informed that the operation was executed exactly as planned, with “no mistakes whatsoever” and India has “successfully completed” the retaliatory attack.
This is the first meeting of the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Security following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror training facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
PM Modi further said that Indian Army had carried out the mission with utmost precision, and that they have strictly adhered to the detailed preparations that had been made in advance.
Describing the operation as a “perfect strike by Indian armed forces”, the Prime Minister informed cabinet ministers about how the nine strikes were conducted deep inside Pakistan — with four being conducted in the Punjab province and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The cabinet members lauded PM Modi’s leadership in leading the nation through its tough phase amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
PM Modi will also reportedly visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan today and brief President Droupadi Murmu about the developments.
The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism: EAM S Jaishankar
Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared a one-line message for the world hours after Indian armed forces conducted Operation Sindoor.
“The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism,” he posted on social media platform X.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has described the operation as “proportionate, non-military, and non-escalatory,” stating that it was deemed necessary in the aftermath of the savage and barbaric attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam.
Misri opened a press briefing on Wednesday with a firm statement on the rationale behind the operation. “Pakistan has a well-defined identity as a haven for terrorists,” he said, underlining the country’s continued role in sheltering banned international terrorists. “Banned international terrorists find it safe from being punished in this country. Pakistan is also known for deliberately misleading the world and international platforms.”
Referring to the Pahalgam attack, Misri added, “On April 22, a Pakistani and Pakistan-trained terrorist, associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, launched a barbaric attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Twenty-five Indians, and one Nepali citizen were cowardly murdered. This is the most serious incident since the 2008 Mumbai attack considering that civilians were attacked.”
Statement from Ministry of Defence on Operation Sindoor
In an official statement, the Ministry of Defence confirmed hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir “from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”
The Ministry of Defence has clarified that Operation Sindoor was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory”. Every effort was made to ensure that only terrorist infrastructure was targeted, avoiding any damage to Pakistani military installations. This strategy was designed to send a firm message while avoiding broader military conflict.
What is Operation Sindoor – India’s response to Pahalgam terror attack
Operation Sindoor comes as a decisive response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which had claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Over 80 terrorists were reportedly killed in a series of attacks carried out by Indian armed forces on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) early on May 7, Wednesday. In the cross-border action, which has been christened “Operation Sindoor”, nine facilities linked to banned terrorist outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen were targeted.
The attacks, which were carried out at 1:44 am. Four of the nine sites were located inside Pakistan, while the remaining five were in POK. However, no Pakistani military installations were targeted.
Using advanced precision weaponry and real-time intelligence, the Army, Navy, and Air Force conducted the strikes in coordination, avoiding any engagement with Pakistani military installations. India employed a range of high-precision, long-range strike weapons during the operation, including the SCALP cruise missile, the HAMMER precision-guided bomb, and loitering munitions.
Operation Sindoor comes in retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, mostly tourists dead. Soon after the Pahalgam terror attack which took place on April 22.
Indian will trace and punish every terrorist and their backers beyond their imagination: PM Modi
A day after the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi had roared from a rally in Bihar, that India will “trace and punish every terrorist and their backers” of the Pahalgam terror attack. The prime minister vowed that “terrorism will not go unpunished” and justice will be served.
“Today, on the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world, India will identify, trace and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to make sure that justice is done. The entire nation is one in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people of various countries and their leaders who have stood with us,” PM Modi said while addressing a gathering in Bihar’s Madhubani district.

पाकिस्तानी मीडिया ने की मसूद के परिवार के खात्मे की पुष्टि
Operation Sindoor: पाकिस्तानी मीडिया के अनुसार भारतीय वायुसेना ने जैश-ए-मोहम्मद प्रमुख मसूद अजहर के घर पर हमला किया, जिसमें उसके परिवार के 14 सदस्यों की मौत हो गई। यह हमला भारत की सीमा से 100 किमी दूर हुआ। रिपोर्ट्स में मसूद अजहर की बहन और उनके परिवार के सदस्यों की मौत की बात कही गई है। भारत के सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक में मसूद अजहर का पूरा परिवार खत्म हो गया है। पाकिस्तानी मीडिया के मुताबिक बुधवार तड़के जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के प्रमुख आतंकवादी मौलाना मसूद अजहर के घर पर भारतीय वायुसेना ने हमला किया, जिसमें पाकिस्तानी आतंकी मसूद अजहर के परिवार के 14 सदस्य मारे गए। हालांकि, मसूद अजहर ने 10 मौत की ही बात कबूली है।
रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक भारतीय सीमा से 100 किमी दूर पर स्थित मसूद अजहर के घर बहाबलपुर में रात के करीब 1.30 बजे भारतीय सेना ने स्ट्राइक किया। इस स्ट्राइक में मसूद के उस ठिकाने पर बम गिराए गए, जहां उसका पूरा परिवार सोया था। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि बम गिरते ही परिवार के 14 लोग ढेर हो गए। हालांकि, हमले के वक्त घर पर मसूद अजहर मौजूद नहीं था।
परिवार के इन लोगों के मरने की खबर
Operation Sindoor: पाकिस्तानी मीडिया के मुताबिक स्ट्राइक के वक्त मसूद अजहर की बड़ी बहन, मौलाना कशफ का पूरा परिवार, मुफ्ती अब्दुल रऊफ के पोते, बड़ी बेटी शहीद बाजी सादिया अपने पति और चार बच्चों के साथ घर में सो रहा था। हमले में 14 की मौत हो गई है, जबकि कुछ लोग घायल हुए हैं। वहीं हमले के बाद मसूद अजहर ने अपना बयान जारी किया है। मसूद का कहना है कि घर के 10 लोगों के मौत की अभी पुष्टि हुई है। मसूद के मुताबिक स्ट्राइक में 5 बच्चे मारे गए हैं और कुछ महिलाओं के भी मरने की खबर है। इसके अलावा मसूद का बहनोई भी स्ट्राइक में ढेर हो गया है। इस हमले के बाद दुखी मसूद अजहर ने कहा कि अच्छा होता कि इस हमले में मै भी मारा जाता!
जैश-ए-मोहम्मद का सरगना है मसूद अजहर
Operation Sindoor: मसूद अजहर आतंकवादी संगठन जैश-ए-मोहम्मद का सरगना है। पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के बाद से ही मसूद अंडरग्राउंड है। मसूद अजहर जैश-ए-मोहम्मद (JeM) का खूंखार सरगना भारत के लिए सालों से सिरदर्द बना हुआ है। 7 मई 2025 की रात भारत ने ऑपरेशन सिंदूर को अंजाम देकर अजहर के गढ़ बहावलपुर में जैश के मुख्यालय को तबाह कर दिया। यह हमला पहलगाम में 22 अप्रैल 2025 को हुए आतंकी हमले का जवाब था, जिसमें 26 लोग मारे गए थे। मसूद अजहर एक कुख्यात आतंकवादी है, जो पाकिस्तान स्थित आतंकी संगठन जैश-ए-मोहम्मद (JeM) का संस्थापक और नेता है। वह भारत के खिलाफ कई बड़े आतंकी हमलों का मास्टरमाइंड रहा है। भारत के ऑपरेशन सिंदूर में उसके परिवार के 14 लोगों की मारे जाने की खबरें सामने आई हैं, हालांकि इसकी आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है। आइए जानते हैं कौन है मसूद अजहर! मसूद भारत के हिटलिस्ट में शामिल है। भारत सरकार का कहना है कि मसूद आतंकी हमले को अंजाम देने के लिए पाकिस्तान के इशारे पर काम करता है। Operation Sindoor: मसूद अजहर का जन्म 10 जुलाई 1968 को पाकिस्तान के बहावलपुर, पंजाब में हुआ था। वह 11 भाई-बहनों में तीसरे नंबर पर है। उसके पिता अल्लाह बख्श शब्बीर एक स्कूल हेडमास्टर और दारुल उलूम दीवानिया के मौलवी थे। मसूद ने कराची के जमिया उलूम-उल-इस्लामिया मदरसे में पढ़ाई की, जहां उसने कट्टरपंथी विचार अपनाया। वह पहले हरकत-उल-मुजाहिदीन (HuM) से जुड़ा, जो अफगानिस्तान में सोवियत सेना के खिलाफ जिहाद लड़ता था।
मसूद अजहर का परिवार
Operation Sindoor: अब्दुल रऊफ अजहर (उर्फ अब्दुल रऊफ असगर): मसूद का छोटा भाई और JeM का अहम कमांडर। वह 1999 के IC-814 अपहरण की साजिश में शामिल था। 2019 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने उसे वैश्विक आतंकी घोषित किया। अब वह बहावलपुर में JeM का कामकाज संभालता है।
इब्राहिम अतहर: मसूद का दूसरा भाई, जिसने IC-814 अपहरण को अंजाम दिया। वह JeM के शुरुआती ऑपरेशनों में सक्रिय था, लेकिन उसका ठिकाना अज्ञात है।
