Uttar Pradesh: Muslim Woman Stripped off Hijab in Muzaffarnagar, 6 Arrested

A very shocking and disturbing incident has triggered widespread outrage in Uttar Pradesh. A Muslim woman wearing a burqa was physically assaulted in Muzaffarnagar. As if it weren’t enough the mob forcibly removed her hijab in the Khalapar area.

However, the disturbing incident was captured on a mobile phone by an eyewitness. The video was widely shared on various social media platforms. The video shows a group of men harassing the woman and beating the Hindu man accompanying her. The incident came to light as the video went viral on social media. Following this the police promptly arrested six individuals in connection to the case.

Victims Targeted While Returning from Work Errand

The alleged incident in question took place on April 12, between 4 and 4:30 PM. A 20-year-old woman, Farheen, a resident of Khalapar was returning after some work. She was accompanied by her colleague Sachin, who was returning from Sujdu. Both were going back after collecting a loan installment on behalf of Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.

According to reports both Farheen and her friend work in Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. The authorities stated that the duo was stopped in a narrow lane known as Darzi Wali Gali by a mob. The group of 8-10 individuals then verbally abused and physically assaulted both of them.

Eyewitnesses present at the scene captured the brutal incident on mobile phones. The footage quickly went viral online, prompting swift police intervention and arrest of 6 individuals.

Viral Video Sparks Outcry

The video which went viral on social media shows one of the men can be seen forcibly pulling off the woman’s hijab. Meanwhile, others present were recording and hurling abuses at them.


The mob did not stop here, the further went on assaulting the Hindu male companion, leaving both victims shocked and traumatized. In the video the woman can be seen struggling to defend herself amid the mob.

As the video was circulated on social media it sparked massive outrage. The netizens are demanding strict action against the perpetrators. The police responded promptly, rushed to the spot, dispersed the crowd, and escorted the victims safely to the police station.

Police Action and Arrests

Muzaffarnagar City Circle Officer (CO) Raju Kumar Sao stated, “On April 12, between approximately 4 and 4:30 PM, a Hindu man from Bhavan area and a Muslim woman from Khalapar, both associated with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, were returning from Sujdu after collecting a loan installment. They were stopped and assaulted by some locals in Darzi Wali Gali”.

Conspiracy Theory Fuels Targeted Attacks

The assault is being linked to the controversial ‘Bhagwa Love Trap’ conspiracy theory. According to reports, this theory alleges that Hindu men are systematically targeting Muslim women in interfaith relationships. However the theory is widely debunked, it still continues to circulate among extremist groups, often fueling such mob attacks.

Public Demands Justice

Meanwhile, the brutality and severe nature of the Muzaffarnagar incident have led to nationwide condemnation. People have called for justice for the humiliation faced by the woman in public.

Several activists and citizens alike are urging law enforcement agencies to not only punish the attackers but also take steps to curb rising incidents of communal vigilantism from occurring in future.

The authorities have stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing. They also assured that further arrests will be made if additional suspects are identified.

15 Foreign Nationals Held in Delhi for Visa Violations, Face Deportation

Delhi Police have initiated deportation proceedings against 15 foreign nationals who were found living in the capital without valid travel documents. This includes 12 individuals from Nigeria, two Bangladeshi citizens, and one person from the Ivory Coast, officials confirmed.

Arrest Made During Special Investigation

The arrests were made during a special operation targeting foreigners who had overstayed in the Mohan Garden and Uttam Nagar localities. Acting on specific intelligence, authorities detained the individuals and transferred them to a detention centre pending further action.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), after reviewing their immigration status, confirmed that the individuals had violated visa rules and ordered their deportation from India. Authorities noted that most had continued to stay well beyond their permitted duration.

Delhi Police Apprehends 6 Bangladeshi’s Earlier

Just days earlier, Delhi Police also apprehended six Bangladeshi nationals in separate operations, including two individuals who had reportedly altered their gender identity in an attempt to avoid detection. The duo, identified as Mahi (22) and Tanya (19), were picked up from Mahipalpur in southwest Delhi.

According to investigators, Mahi and Tanya had entered India illegally using unofficial border routes with the help of local agents. During questioning, they admitted to undergoing minor medical procedures and hormone therapy to support their claimed identities as transgender persons, a move meant to help them blend into local communities and escape scrutiny.

2 Held in Delhi Fake ID Racket

Their confession also led to the identification of two more Bangladeshi nationals, Pinky and Irara, who are alleged to have provided fake documents and facilitated their stay in the city. Police believe a wider network may be involved in helping undocumented migrants settle in Delhi.

In a related case, another Bangladeshi man, Mahbub Alam (50), was arrested for overstaying his visa. He had initially entered India for a scheduled appointment at the Portuguese Embassy but failed to leave after his visa expired on April 8.

Officials say that such operations are part of a broader effort to curb illegal immigration and dismantle support networks that assist foreigners in bypassing Indian immigration laws. Further investigations are underway.

Airlines to immediately shift operations from Delhi Airport’s Terminal 2

Due to maintenance work at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Terminal 2 (T2), IndiGo airlines will only be operating from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 of the airport from April 15 until further notice. The airlines will completely shut operations at T2 for the time being. Meanwhile, Delhi airport’s upgraded Terminal 1 will be fully operational from April 15.

The low cost domestic carrier released a statement on Sunday to announce that all its Delhi-bound flights for T2 will be shifted to the Terminal 1 of IGI Airport due to maintenance work. Similarly, flights operated by other airlines from T2 of Delhi airport are expected to be shifted to other terminals as well. For example, Akasa Air’s flights operating from T2, will operate from Terminal 1.

Statement by Indigo Airline

“Delhi Terminal 2 is going under maintenance, resulting in all flights being moved to Terminal 1 starting April 15, 2025, until further notice,” the notice read, adding that a list of all flights being reassigned will be shared on its website.

“While notifications are being sent to registered contact details via Email and WhatsApp, we’re also appending a list of flights that are being reassigned on our website, so you have all the information you need at your fingertips,” the statement further read.

Dust storm at Delhi airport, flights delayed

Meanwhile Delhi airport experienced severe delays in flights on Saturday due to strong dust storms and gusty winds in the national capital. As per sources, over 450 flights were delayed and at least 50 flights were diverted from their scheduled destination impacting hundreds of fliers.

“After the dust storm, many flights were diverted and cancelled, and this caused inconvenience to passengers waiting for their flights at Delhi airport. The diverted flight took time to reach Delhi, and this led to rush at the airport,” a Delhi airport official told news agency ANI.

Many frustrated passengers also shared their ordeal, especially people travelling with children and the elderly and those undergoing treatment.

India Opens with 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze in Archery World Cup

India secured four medals, one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in the men’s recurve team event at the archery World Cup stage one at Auburndale in the USA on Sunday night. The trio of Dheeraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Das went down 1-5 to China in the final. This is India’s third medal of the season-opening event, with an eye on a fourth one as Dheeraj remains in contention in the men’s recurve individual event. This was a stellar start for India, which has secured a gold medal in the compound mixed team event and a bronze in the compound men’s team in the Archery World Cup in the past.

Dheeraj’s Performance

The 23-year-old army archer Dheeraj Bomma Devara won a bronze in the individual recurve category. He was also part of India’s trial that settled for silver after defeating China. In the bronze medal match, Dheeraj and Midiel tied the first set at 28-28. In the second set, the score edged ahead at 29-28, where Dheeraj could manage to take a 3-1 lead. The third set was again deadlocked at 29-29, putting Dheeraj under pressure. The rising archery star then responded with a brilliant fourth set, hitting two 10s to get a score of 29-28. In the concluding set, Dheeraj performed under pressure and yet secured three perfect tens to seal a bronze for himself.

The World Archery Cup, organised by World Archery, is one of the world’s most competitive contests in archery. Each archer completes four stages in four countries, and the best eight archers of eight categories advance to the end contest in the final Archery World Cup match. These matches started in 2006 with the intent of making archery more popular and attractive to spectators.

Indian- Russia Celebrate 78 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Russia has reinstated its support for India’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and has also expressed optimism for the historic partnership between the two countries, with a hope to continue growing together in the years ahead. In a message shared on the social media platform, Telegram, on the 78th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Russian foreign ministry congratulated India and expressed confidence in the consistently growing friendly relations between the two nations. The Russian side also expressed intentions of deepening its strategic partnership with New Delhi.

The Russian Ministry noted that political dialogue between the two nations will remain strong with regular high-level meetings, which will include two summits between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2024. The Russian side also recognised trade growth, which reached over US$60 billion in the present financial year and nuclear energy partnership, particularly the Kudankulam nuclear power plant project in Tamil Nadu. The Russian ministry further added that both countries should continue to collaborate in areas of defence, space, technology, and cultural exchange by jointly advocating for a multipolar world order. This can be achieved with a greater representation of the global South in world governance.

Marking the 78 years of a successful India-Russia diplomatic relationship, a cycle rally was organised in New Delhi on Sunday with more than 300 people on the road. The cycling rally also commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Russian victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.

UNSC Permanent Membership

The UN Security Council is one of the six principal bodies of the UN, established by the UN charter in 1945. The primary responsibility of the UNSC is maintaining international peace and security. The council has 15 members, five permanent members, which include the US, Russia, France, China, and the UK and 10 non-permanent members elected for a two-year term. 

India entered the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for the eighth time in 2021 and stayed in the council for two years, i.e. 2021-22.

India’s population, territorial size, gross domestic product, cultural diversity, economic potential, and political system, along with its ongoing contributions to UN activities, make the country’s demand for a permanent seat in the UN more rational.

Kerala and Tamil Nadu Celebrate Malayalam New Year Vishu

The state of Kerala and some parts of Tamil Nadu will celebrate the Malayalam New Year, Vishu, today, on Monday, 14 April 2025. Vishu is a significant Hindu spring festival that symbolises new beginnings and the Sun’s transition to the Mesha Rashi. Vishu, a Sanskrit word which literally translates to equal, is the traditional spring equinox when the day and the night are of equal duration. The festival is observed on the first day of the Malayalam month of Chingam, according to the Drik Panchang.

Vishu and Mythology 

Legends say that Vishu is the day when Lord Krishna killed Narakasur, known to be a tyrant who abducted 16,000 women and was defeated by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama.

On the day of Vishu celebrations, the traditional ritual of Vishukkani is performed, where the most auspicious object is seen at dawn and is believed to bring happiness and good fortune throughout the year, along with Lord Vishnu’s blessings. It is believed that the first sight, as reflected in the metal mirror, will bring prosperity. A display is also created which includes decorations of flowers, vegetables, fruits, a traditional lamp, metal mirrors, coins, rice, holy text and other items. Called the Vishukkani, these objects are placed inside a metal vessel called Uruli.

The festival will be celebrated in Kerala, the Tulu Nada region of Karnataka, the Mahe district of Pondicherry and several districts of Tamil Nadu, along with celebrations across the country by the Malayali diaspora.

UP Zero Poverty Scheme: मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने घोषणा की कि उत्तर प्रदेश में जीरो पॉवर्टी कार्यक्रम बाबा साहेब डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के नाम पर होगा। यह कार्यक्रम इसी महीने आगे बढ़ाने जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हर गरीब-वंचित को गरीबी रेखा से ऊपर उठाने के लिए पीएम मोदी की प्रेरणा से सरकार ने जीरो पॉवर्टी कार्यक्रम को अपने हाथ में लिया है। जीरो पॉवर्टी का मतलब कोई गरीब-वंचित न रह पाए। वह सभी प्रकार की सुविधाओं से युक्त हो। पिछले 8 वर्ष में मुसहर, थारू, वनटांगिया, कोल, बुक्सा, चेरो, गोड़, सहरिया को पूरी तरह से सैचुरेट करने का कार्य किया गया। हर जरूरतमंद को सुविधाओं का लाभ दिलाया गया। मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने भारत रत्न बाबा साहेब डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर की 134 वीं जयंती पर अंबेडकर महासभा की तरफ से सोमवार को आयोजित कार्यक्रम में अपनी बातें रखीं। मुख्यमंत्री ने स्मारिका का भी विमोचन किया।

Skin Bank: नागपुर में भी जल्द होगा स्किन बैंक

महाराष्ट्र के नागपुर में स्किन बैंक नहीं होने से पूरे विदर्भ में लोगों को दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ता है। अब जल्द नागपुर में भी एक अत्याधुनिक Skin Bank बनाया जायेगा। दरअसल महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने उमरेड स्थित एमपीएम कंपनी में हाल ही में हुई दुर्घटना में झुलसे श्रमिकों से ओरियस इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज में मुलाकात की। उन्होंने घायलों की हालत की जानकारी ली और उनका मनोबल बढ़ाया। इस दौरान उन्होंने नागपुर में स्किन बैंक की स्थापना के निर्देश भी दिए। मुख्यमंत्री फडणवीस ने जिलाधिकारी डॉ. विपीन इटनकर को नागपुर में अत्याधुनिक स्किन बैंक स्थापित करने की प्रक्रिया तुरंत शुरू करने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि इस सुविधा से न केवल विदर्भ क्षेत्र बल्कि मध्य प्रदेश और छत्तीसगढ़ जैसे पड़ोसी राज्यों के मरीजों को भी लाभ मिलेगा।

Skin Bank: स्किन बैंक से गंभीर मरीजों को मिलेगा जीवनदान

स्किन बैंक एक ऐसी मेडिकल सुविधा है जहां दान की गई त्वचा को संरक्षित किया जाता है ताकि झुलसे हुए मरीजों को समय पर उपचार प्रदान किया जा सके। यह बैंक विशेष रूप से आगजनी, रासायनिक दुर्घटनाओं या गंभीर त्वचा जलने के मामलों में अत्यंत उपयोगी सिद्ध होता है। दान की गई त्वचा को विशेष तकनीकों से सुरक्षित रखा जाता है और जरूरत पड़ने पर मरीज की जली हुई त्वचा पर ग्राफ्टिंग के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है, जिससे संक्रमण की संभावना घटती है और रोगी के जल्दी ठीक होने की संभावना बढ़ती है।

 Mehul Choksi Arrested: मेहुल चोकसी के खिलाफ वित्तीय घोटाले के आरोप हैं और 12 अप्रैल को उसे बेल्जियम में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। भारत सरकार और यहां की जांच एजेंसियां लगातार उसके प्रत्यर्पण के लिए प्रयास कर रही हैं।
Mehul Choksi Arrested: भगोड़े हीरा व्यापारी मेहुल चोकसी को दो दिन पहले 12 अप्रैल को बेल्जियम में गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है। मेहुल चोकसी पर पंजाब नेशनल बैंक PNB के 13 हजार करोड़ रुपये का गबन करके भागने के संगीन आरोप हैं। चोकसी वित्तीय घोटाला करके भारत से भाग गया था। चोकसी के प्रत्यर्पण के लिए भारत सरकार ने अनुरोध किया था, जिसके चलते बेल्जियम में भगोड़े चोकसी पर एक्शन लिया गया है। भारतीय अधिकारियों ने बेल्जियम के शीर्ष अधिकारियों से बात की और मेहुल चोकसी के प्रत्यर्पण की प्रक्रिया शुरू करने को कहा। इसके बाद वहां के प्रशासन ने चोकसी को हिरासत में लिया और फिर गिरफ्तार कर लिया है।

Mehul Choksi ने दो साल पहले दिया था भारत को झटका

करीब दो साल पहले मेहुल चोकसी कैरेबियाई देश Antigua aur Barbuda में था। वहां भी भारत ने उसे वापस लाने के प्रयास किए थे। हालांकि भारत को सफलता नहीं मिल सकी थी क्योंकि Antigua और Barbuda की हाई कोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाते हुए मेहुल चोकसी को एंटीगुआ और बारबुडा से प्रत्यर्पित किए जाने से इनकार कर दिया था, जो कि भारत के लिए झटका था। मेहुल चोकसी पर आरोपों की बात करें तो उस पर अपने भतीजे Neerav Modi के साथ मिलकर Punjab National Bank PNB के 13,500 करोड़ रुपये केघोटाले का आरोप है। हीरा व्यापारी मेहुल चोकसी की Diamond Jewellery Outlet ‘Geetanjali’ के देश भर में करीब 4000 स्टोर थे, जिसे चोकसी ने 1996 में स्थापित किया था। चोकसी को दिसंबर 2017 में एंटीगुआ और बारबुडा की नागरिकता मिली थी। PNB से धोखाधड़ी का ये मामला जनवरी 2018 में सामने आया था और PNB ने हीरा कारोबारी नीरव मोदी और उसके चाचा मेहुल चोकसी के खिलाफ शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी। बैंक ने आरोप लगाया था कि इन्होंने 2.81 लाख करोड़ रुपये की धोखाधड़ी की है। मामला सामने आने के बाद जनवरी 2018 में चोकसी देश छोड़कर एंटीगुआ और बारबुडा भाग गया था।

Mehul Choksi Arrested: चोकसी के भागने के बाद CBI ने फरवरी 2018 जांच शुरू की थी। इसके तहत पहले PNB के ही दो कर्मचारियों की भी गिरफ्तारी हुई है। नीरव मोदी और चोकसी के चार हफ्ते के लिए पासपोर्ट जब्त कर करते हुए Mumbai कोर्ट ने उनके खिलाफ जमानती आदेश जारी किया था। 2018 दिसंबर में चोकसी के खिलाफ इंटरपोल ने Red Corner नोटिस जारी किया था। मार्च 2019 में एंटीगुआ और बारबुडा में चोकसी के प्रत्यर्पण की प्रक्रिया शुरू की गई थी। ED ने जुलाई 2019 में चोकसी की करीब 24.77 करोड़ रुपये की संपत्ति जब्त कर ली। इसी साल CBI को कोर्ट ने चोकसी के खिलाफ गैर जमानती वारंट रद्द करने से मना कर दिया था। इस केस में SEBI ने Geetanjali Gems पर 5 करोड़ रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया था। ये जुर्माना लिस्टिंग नियमों का उल्लंघन करने के लिए लगाया गया था। एंटीगुआ और बारबुडा में 23 मई 2021 को चोकसी की गुमशुदगी की शिकायत हुई थी।

डोमिनिका में हुई गिरफ्तारी, नहीं हुआ प्रत्यर्पण

Mehul Choksi को डोमिनिका में अवैध रूप से प्रवेश करने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया। इस पर चोकसी के वकील ने तर्क दिया कि वो अब भारत का नागरिक नहीं है, इसलिए उसे भारत में प्रत्यर्पित Extradition नहीं किया जा सकता। इस मामले में एंटीगुआ की सरकार ने उसे भारत से सीधे प्रत्यर्पित किए जाने की बात कही थी। इसके बाद 27 मई, 2021 को डोमिनिकन सरकार ने कहा कि चोकसी अगले आदेश तक बाहर नहीं जा सकता है। जब जमानत मिली थी तो वो वापस एंटीगुआ चला गया था। फरवरी, 2022 में भारत की सरकार ने Supreme Court में जानकारी दी थी कि मोदी, चोकसी और माल्या से 18 हजार करोड़ रुपये वसूले गए है। इस पूरे मामले में 2023 में एंटीगुआ हाई कोर्ट ने मेहुल चोकसी के प्रत्यर्पण को लेकर भारत सरकार को झटका दिया था, जिसके बाद से मामला ठंडे बस्ते में चला गया था।

लंदन ही क्यों जाते हैं भगोड़े

नीरव मोदी, विजय माल्या ही नहीं, 31 बिजनेसमैन अब तक देश में बड़े आर्थिक घोटाले करके फरार हो चुके हैं। सरकार का कहना है कि विभिन्न जांच एजेंसियां जैसे CBI, ED इनसे जुड़े 15 मामलों की जांच कर रही हैं। देश छोड़कर भाग चुके बिजनेसमैन भारतीय बैंकों और सरकारी संस्थाओं को करीब 40,000 करोड़ का चूना लगा चुके हैं। विजय माल्या जहां 17 विभिन्न बैंकों से 9000 करोड़ रुपए के गबन के आरोपी हैं, वहीं नीरव मोदी, एमी मोदी, नीशल मोदी और मेहुल चौकसी करीब 13600 करोड़ रुपए के PNB घोटाले के आरोपी हैं। लेकिन इन दोनों बिजनेसमैन के अलावा कई अन्य बिजनेसमैन भी हैं, जो देश के बैंकों का पैसा लेकर विदेश भाग चुके हैं, लेकिन उनकी चर्चा मीडिया में कम हुई।
भारत और पाकिस्तान में Geograpic और Cultural Similarities के अलावा भी कई समानताएं हैं। इनमें से एक समानता यह भी है कि वहां से भागकर भी लोग लंदन में शरण लेते हैं। पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति परवेज़ मुशर्रफ़, पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री नवाज़ शरीफ़, बेनज़ीर भुट्टो के अलावा कई आमो-ख़ास लोग लंदन में रहते और छिपते आए हैं। भारत के नीरव मोदी, विजय माल्या से लेकर मेहूल चोकसी और संगीतकार नदीम सैफ़ी ने भी जाकर लंदन में शरण ली थी। आख़िर ऐसा क्या है जो भारत और पाकिस्तान के विवादित लोग लंदन में शरण लेते रहे हैं?
भारत के पूर्व विदेश सचिव और लंदन में भारत के उच्चायुक्त रहे सलमान हैदर इस सवाल का जवाब देते हैं। वह कहते हैं, इसकी सबसे बड़ी वजह भारत का ब्रिटेन का उप-निवेश Colony Or Settlement रहना है। लोग इसलिए भागकर जाते हैं क्योंकि भारत और ब्रिटेन का Settlement रहा है और इस वजह से वहां की और यहां की क़ानूनी प्रणाली लगभग एक जैसी है। ब्रिटेन और भारत के क़ानूनी जानकार दोनों देशों के क़ानूनों को बहुत अच्छे से जानते हैं जिससे भागकर गए शख़्स को बहुत क़ानूनी लाभ होता है।
क़ानूनी वजहों के अलावा ब्रिटेन में भारत और पाकिस्तान के लोगों का वहां होना भी एक बड़ी वजह है जो कुछ लोग भागकर वहां जाते हैं। लंदन में बहुत से भारतवासी रहते हैं जिसके कारण यहां रहना आसान है। UK में दक्षिण एशियाई खाना आराम से मिल जाता है। लंदन के बहुत सारे इलाक़े ‘मिनी भारत’ जैसे बन गए हैं। बहुत सारे लोगों के पहले से यहां पर ठिकाने हैं. बॉलीवुड के कई बड़े स्टार्स, उद्योगपतियों के यहां घर हैं। पहले से घर होने के कारण भी लंदन में भागकर आने में आसानी होती है।

Heightened Security in Murshidabad Following Waqf Act Demonstrations: Central Forces Deployed

In the aftermath of violent demonstrations two days prior concerning the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad district, which resulted in three fatalities, the West Bengal government has moved to deploy 17 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to restore order. The disturbances, which erupted on April 12th, also led to over 150 arrests, injuries to 18 police officers, and the hospitalization of one civilian with a gunshot wound.

Police Assure Control, Appeal for Calm

West Bengal’s Director General of Police, Rajeev Kumar, after reviewing the law enforcement situation with senior officials on Sunday, affirmed that the situation was now “largely under control.” Jangipur’s Superintendent of Police, Ananda Roy, appealed for peace, urging residents to avoid succumbing to rumours and inaccurate information.

Security Boosted with Senior Officers and Border Force

Security has been significantly bolstered with the dispatch of 23 senior officers from the State police and various central agencies to Murshidabad, which remains on high alert. Nine companies of the Border Security Force (BSF) have been positioned in the affected areas, with BSF Inspector General Karni Singh Shekhawat personally supervising operations. The Inspector General of the CRPF is also expected to visit the region for a first-hand assessment of the circumstances.

Indo-Bangladesh Border Security Intensified

Amidst the tense atmosphere, security measures have also been intensified along the Indo-Bangladesh border to deter any cross-border disruptions or the escalation of tensions.

Political Fallout: All-Party Meet and BJP Protests

The political repercussions have been immediate and pronounced. Congress MP Isha Khan Chowdhury, representing Malda Dakshin where the affected areas are located, announced an all-party meeting with senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to deliberate on the situation. Simultaneously, the BJP initiated statewide protests, with the party’s top leaders taking to the streets in Kolkata. State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar accused “extremist organizations such as the Population Front of India (PFI) and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)” of orchestrating the violence.

BJP Demands “Disturbed Area” Status, Claims of Hindu DisplacementBJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to declare specific border districts in West Bengal as “disturbed areas.” Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari alleged that numerous Hindus from Dhulian had crossed the river to seek refuge in Baishnabnagar, a neighbouring area in Malda district. “The safety and return of these displaced families must be ensured without delay,” he stated in a social media communication.

TMC Accuses BJP of Spreading Misinformation

Conversely, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) retaliated, accusing the BJP of disseminating fabricated images to incite communal tensions. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh provided specific instances, claiming that BJP leaders had shared photographs from the anti-CAA protests in Lucknow and a fire incident in Jalandhar, falsely presenting them as events from Murshidabad.

“The BJP is intentionally spreading false information to disrupt communal harmony,” Ghosh asserted. He further claimed that BJP leaders like Sukanta Majumdar and Arjun Singh were employing inflammatory language.

Government Vows Strict Action Against Perpetrators

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose reiterated the state government’s firm position: “No individual will be permitted to take the law into their own hands. The government will act decisively against all perpetrators of violence, irrespective of their religious or political affiliation.”
